"Tennessee is total garbage"

I think the majority of our fan base said this at that exact time. I know I did. Huge comeback and win. Very proud

I didn't. I turned to my wife and said "I have never seen a more unlucky team, ever".

As it turned out, we did get lucky on a dropped touchdown pass! Not nearly as lucky as UGA for bulk of game.

Overall I rate - ignoring lucky plays UT better than UGA, better than UF, equal to OU and worse than UA. Purely based on trying to exclude luck.

I would say UA is better, but not large amount. We can win if we win the lucky close plays.

It's Bush League to call student athletes garbage. I do however agree with Clay's assessment of Jones. A lot of bizarre things had to happen for Georgia to lose this game, even without their stud running back. Tennessee just isn't going to beat decent teams very often running Jones' flawed scheme. I'd trade Butch for any coach in the SEC except Derek Mason at Vandy.
So no "bizarre" things happened to UT? We didn't have a fluke turnover inside the 1 yd line which was a 14 point swing? We didn't lose multiple O Linemen? They didn't get a punt return for a TD because of a missed block in the back? Just to name a few?
Thanks man. The luck was all one sided.

Eh, most who are honest were thinking the same at 24-3.

True.

Most of us aren't paid to be unbiased college football analysts that aren't supposed to flip off at the mouth anytime something comes to your mind.

Chance has played a role in this team getting to 2-3. Likewise, It played a role yesterday in getting us to 3-3. There's nothing for Tennessee to be sorry about here.

Absolutely correct. Some only see when we do get a break. (even though they're few and far between).

Fair weather fan; anyone?

Sometimes fairweather football and/or coaching for a long period of time causes competitive fans who are hungry for a win to go fairweather. Agree or not it's the nature of the game

Winning and winning waaaaay more often than not cures that

On Periscope after the game he was singing the team's praises and predicted 8 wins again.
If you didn't think Tennessee was garbage at that moment then you weren't watching.

I have said it before.

Clay Travis,....never played the game....doesn't know the game.

It's why I don't follow Wes Rucker on twitter and never pay attention to anything he says because of how he treats people that respond to him on twitter. It's completely unprofessional and classless. You don't see Daniel Lewis, Grant Ramey or Patrick Brown ever do that. They are always professional in how they handle people that respond to them no matter what the issue while Rucker acts like a five year old told no.

Clay Travis is a national sports writer paid to be professional who, during the middle of the game, calls a team of college students garbage and says that anyone that has hope is an idiot. It's a completely unprofessional thing to say on twitter. He could have said "UT's losing 24-3. If Butch Jones doesn't turn it around, it's going to get even uglier in Knoxville" and still have the same mantra. But that would take class, something Travis obviously doesn't have.

Ratings whore. Even down 24-3 we were outperforming uga. I wasn't too worried. I knew we would make it a game.

Yes, what you said except they did not miss that block in the back - they picked it up and gave a suspicious and lame "block in the side" excuse that replay in no way supports. Bottom line: breaks good and bad happen.

We had two bad breaks and a bunch of drops. All stuff that tends to even out over the long haul. We were playing well enough to dog stomp them. So, i didn't think the team was hot garbage and i was watching. Statistically, Tennessee was dominating.

Yet there are UGa fans calling for Richt's head today yet Reggie Davis dropped a sure TD and Sony Michel fumbled to let us back in the game...neither of which is on the coach, per se, but there's an expectation that these are all fundamentals of basic football and the onus is on the coaching staff to ensure that players master these and that the details aren't forgotten.

At the end of the day those were player mistakes. Coaches can't hold their hand the entire game. Ball security starts at middle school, those are not coaching mistakes yesterday.

It is not the coaches fault Kelly drops an easy interception on the next to last play of the game. Players have to make plays.

"Tennessee is total garbage. Anyone still defending Butch Jones at this point is an idiot." A clay Travis tweet when the Vols were down 24-3. Another talking head who some people insist is really, underneath it all, a Big Orange fan. Negavols come with radio shows as their loudspeakers, Twitter accounts as their loudspeakers, and forums such as this as their loudspeakers. Bottom line. They don't know near as much as they think they do and just spew out their garbage hoping it will stick. Mr. Travis' didn't stick last night.
In Clay's defense, he is normally pretty drunk by the 2nd quarter of any UT game.

24-3, didn't convert 3rd down, we were around the 50, still time on the clock, I was thinking this could get ugly, sure am glad we get the ball to start the 2nd half. And then we were going for it, I was thinking, don't give them a short field, we only need like, 3 yards, really, he slipped, he made the catch, that's first down, great call coach, poor execution(could he have made the catch if he had not slipped) what a horrible throw. The rest is history. I was at the miracle, and can proudly say I've only lost hope once, and yesterday wasn't it. I did wait to celebrate, no flags or nothing like that. It was a huge win. Ga is now 55-1 after having a lead of 21points.
We are coming for you Bama!
Go Vols!

Actually, he's paid to have a compelling opinion. Whether that rose to the compelling opinionlevel is debatable, but that's actually his job/ job description.

I don't like James Franklin or Penn State but they are 5-1 (against a pretty weak schedule)

Try a very weak schedule. Am embarrassing weak schedule. Tennessee has never and will never stoop that low. Temple, buffalo, Rutgers, SD State, army and Indiana.

Good job to the team, but the verdict is still out on the coaching staff. I think butch is the right HC for the job . I like what butch said to dobbs and what dobbs said to butch after the game. However, I still think the staff needs to be looked at. McNeil and Randolph are the worst DBs on the team. Rewatching the game, they both missed numerous tackles. They have a lot of bad habits from the Sal era.

Oh man I can't believe Randolph and McNeil are the worst. I've always thought McNeil was one of our best tacklers in the secondary. Emmanuel Moseley is pretty bad though.. He's got that Justin Coleman quality to him; gets his jersey covered in WR dust almost every game. Can't believe he's a starter. That crap may fly at Cincinnati, Butch, but it doesn't in the SEC.

Yet many have been praising him and Finebaum for the last few weeks.

If GA had scored and won in OT, Butch would have been crucified; however, most are praising him today.

Strange how one play made, or not made, on the field by players can flip fans 180 degrees for or against a coach.

Exactly. It cracks me up. If Daniel didn't hit the most absurd punt, GA has a better chance to score. All the Butch gets it again, he learned, etc. (when he still ran it 3 straight times at the end) crowd would have been out with their pitchforks and torches today.
