and so is Dooley... Just give it time and let Coach Dooley do what he does best and that is recruit and scout talent.

We cant judge yet if he is a good sideline coach because his teams were not top of the line sec caliber... outside of one game he has beaten teams he should have and lost to teams he should have and i have no problem with that.

outside of the Kentucky game i would like to hear some negavols speak up about why dooley cant get the job done without pointing to the obvious 11-14 record... just remember we lost 4 out of are top 6 players this yr for the majority of the year with no depth to recover from them

OIC...so we are a team that is suppose to lose to certain schools...we are not Vandy or KY and we should not expect or accept the fact that we are suppose to lose to anyone....

Many have tried to use this kind of common sense, logic, and simply just be realistic without any success on here, so here's to a 2012 season that will back up the above and finally stop some of the insanity

But-but-WE'RE TENNESSEE!!! We should be able to throw money at a "top-level" head coach who can will the team to win no matter what the roster looks like!

How DARE they take longer than a year to rebuild a program that has been in decline since 2004! I deserve immediate gratification as a fan!!!

Keep drinking the dool-aid, OP.

The silver lining is that even if someone like Dooley surrounds himself with great position coaches and coordinators, that's all it takes sometimes to win ball games if you have the talent. So if he makes 3 great hires to round out the staff, UT could be competitive again.

BS! It is only right to expect SOME FREAKING IMPROVEMENT!!! Get that through your thick skull. I'm getting sick of all these sunshine pumpers taking shots at those of us who simply call a spade a spade.

I was all about giving Dooley time. But when year 2 the program is going in reverse and there is a mass exodus from the staff, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out things are heading in the wrong direction...FAST...

Tell that to Brady Hoke. He's playing in the Sugar Bowl tonight with a team that had zero expectations. We SHOULD expect more.

Sorry but I can't agree with this rosy outlook yet either. Dooley is on the right track to leave a much more talented roster if he fails to win. I can agree with that. I do not know if they are on the right track to win under Dooley. That... I need more convincing.

Dooley could tell everyone that crap sandwiches taste good and 1/2 of Vol Nation would be in the bathroom with two pieces of white bread even though they KNOW it can't be possible. If Dooley says it, throw common sense out the window, it HAS to be true.

there is no comparison between the roster Hoke inherited and the one Dooley inherited. There is no comparison between the conference and schedule Hoke had either. Other than that... you make a great point.

What he was handed is irrelevant. He is getting paid millions to hold down one of the best jobs in college football. I want great, if he isn't that then I want rid of him. Now, you tell me what makes him great.

I agree with you 100%. I think next year Dooley will be hungry to prove that we are on the rise and will at least win 8-9 games borrowing another fluke year full of injuries. I think his future has a lot to do with this and next years class as being critical to his and the teams sucess.

And no one on here was asking for a BCS bowl this year either. Beating a crapass UK squad would have kept a large many of the complainers on your side all by itself. But this pitiful excuse for a coach could not manage that.

I am not a negavol or a negadooley for that matter. I think Dooley's made some mistakes in game management, sideline management and player discipline and none of that has anything to do with talent, lack of depth, injuries or experience.

Still, I think it would be foolish to fire Dooley now, especially RIGHT now , as it seems many folks want. Hart hasn't been here long and he's fired two coaches. If he thought firing Dooley now, or even in the days after the UK debacle made sense, he seems like the kind of guy who wouldn't think twice about it.

This is roughly the time of year Kiffin bailed. What big name coach would drop his team and his recruits right now? I've seen that question posted by others and it consistently goes unanswered.

Seems like the only thing to do is get on board and hope for the best or take a hiatus, it's just the reality of the situation a Vols fan is in these days. I hope Dooley brings in a great class, hires great staff and manages to win games, including a game or two in which we are the underdog. I hope Bray and the rest grow up and with the help of the coaches, reach their potential. I'm as sick of being in the cellar in every men's sport as anyone, but coming to this board and trashing the coaches and the programs doesn't fix anything, though I guess it makes some feel better. GBO!

In regards to whether he is great coach or not, yes. He either is or isn't a great college football coach. What he inherited has no impact on that. Everyone knows he walked into pile, that is understood but that has no bearing on what he is. As I said, millions to run one of the best programs possible. Not sure why everyone is ok with a "swell guy."

The Kentucky loss killed a lot of his goodwill and he knows it.

....he's gotta get some serious traction going.
