Tennessee is now a third tier football program and is going to stay that way thanks t

Let's be honest, if that is possible. The CBJ supporters (year after year), those that would attack anyone that would dare point out how he was leading us down the drain, were and are idiots. Their constant mantra of "He's a great recruiter, taking us in the right direction, took over a dumpster fire, etc. etc." was meaningless noise. Our new HC must be given a chance to be a Football coach, I will be willing to give him a 100% support for year one, let's give him a chance, after five years of a pretender for a HC, we may very well have a real coach. There is no doubt, we are in the toilet right now, Memphis was a far better program than UT last season, it doesn't have to stay that way. I'm looking forward to at least a seven win season next year!:hi:

And now what?!??!?! NOW WHAT???

We just went 4-8.

How about now????

We're a joke.

We just were disgraced on the national scale. We managed to embarrass ourselves AFTER THE DAMNED SEASON WAS OVER.

Just run and hide. You Anti-Fulmer types should just hang up your orange because you're at fault here. Stop outting yourself for being an enemy of the program.

Well we were ranked the last 2 seasons before **** the fan this year. Hasn’t been all that bad recently and that’s coming from someone who thinks they shouldn’t of fired fulmer. But to say there’s no way Pruitt a guy who fulmer has put his trust in by the way can right the ship is moronic

No way. They didn't even play in their conference game. Wisconsin or Ohio State should have been in....especially considering how well the Big Ten did in bowl season. They just broke the all-time Bowl Cup win pct. by going 7-1. Would have been 8-0 if Michigan didn't have a worse QB than Tennessee if you can believe that....
Actually the playoff committee set the precedent last year when they put OSU in over the big 10 champ Penn state despite penn state beating osu. Osu had less losses. There by setting the stage for this year. To not include bama would be to be inconsistent and unfair.

unacceptable.

Agree...not scared of WV opener in Charlotte, or Florida coming to Neyland...think we should get 1 if not both W's.

Going into Columbia to play SC is winnable, but will be a big challenge.

I see better than 6-6...7-5 likely. 8-4 possible. 9-3 a stretch.

that some people are stuck on stop.

they can't see the other side of the bridge, much less be willing to cross it.

they don't matter.
Second... third standard deviation? I have to admit that I am at this point a second standard deviation regarding CJP simply because he is recruiting for Bama. And if you don't think last night's performance recruited for Gump, you are blind. I can't reconcile that. I am a VFL, but his Bammer DNA really bothers me. I would have a little easier time with it if he had gone to LSU or BYU or somewhere else and was staying for all his stated reasons. But his DNA truly bothers me and I am wondering if we have another Kiffin that will bolt if the stars align and he gets offered the job. This fan base does not deserve that.

So he has to earn trust. All I have heard so far is coachspeak, a'ight?

“Great coach?” Who hired him after he cratered our program? No one because he had not a clue as to how restore a program since he had one gifted to him. I am sure he was asked how he would do that in subsequent interviews.

I would give anything to know John Currie’s account on how it went down with his firing and the installation of Fulmer. Bet he and Johnny might see some consistencies if they compared notes.

I know for a fact there are consistencies with both events

Yes he does. It is a free country. You can change the channel. I do.

Not to be too much of a jerk... but "free country" only applies to publicly owned spaces and your own property. Freak is very tolerant but ultimately he pays the bills so he makes the rules. If he or one of his moderators decides you're out of bounds... you get to go be "free" somewhere else.

that's just false.

that's just a short sighted view. given the entire circumstance of how this coaching search went down, when push comes to shove, give me as much of what bama has been doing the past 10 years as we can get. it's not like "the tennessee way" was lighting it up, and for once, you give credit to Fulmer for doing the uncomfortable thing and hiring a guy like Pruitt from Alabama and personality wise, a 180 from what Phil is. CJP is not a "yes" man. and the DC that coaches that Defense the way it's coached, definitely gets to use that as a recruiting tool, so to think that their performance doesn't directly impact how CJP will recruit here, who he will recruit here, is equally shortsighted.

I would have a little easier time with it if he had gone to LSU or BYU or somewhere else and was staying for all his stated reasons.
so let what could be a very good football coach and recruiter go someplace else so we can watch from afar someone else reap the benefit?

But his DNA truly bothers me
so, you have similar problems with David Cutcliffe?
Robert Gillespie?
Doug Dickey?

this notion that he's going to be a double agent for Alabama is just dumb. and to boot, to say we shouldn't want a part of it because he's from Bama is dumb as well. it's not like they've not been the most dominant program....ever...over the last 10 years. why WOULDN'T you want that here? even if it's only 60% of what they've been that's 100% better than anything we've done over the same 10 years.

and I am wondering if we have another Kiffin that will bolt if the stars align and he gets offered the job. This fan base does not deserve that.
no we don't, and if that happens, then shame on us, for not vetting properly, and we're right back where we started. and that would suck. but let's not skip to that end just yet. i'm really trying to kick my BVS, i think some others need to try it as well.

how would that be any different for any coach that was hired? i have no idea who you wanted from this search, but after the Schiano/Currie deal went down, i think when it's all said and done, you could argue that we have fallen ass backwards in to a pile of daisies with this hire.

To one thing.

One thing.

Firing Fulmer in 2009. That was it. That put everything else in motion.

We are no longer going to be competitive in football. Pruitt is going to be mediocre for the next 4 years. We will see maybe a 6-6/7-5/7-5/8-4 type of run.

And then....rinse. And repeat.

It's it. I am an alum so I am stuck with the Vols forever, but you moronic redneck idiots completely destroyed our program. We will never be good again.

Thanks.

Same thing Georgia fans said a couple of years ago.

How long has he been on the job at Tennessee ? Everybody was and is aware of his prior obligation to coach Bama in the playoffs . This is the deal that was hammered out when we hired him , would you feel better if he told the kids I know what I told you but I was lying to you when I promised to do everything I could to help you win a championship? Would you not have to look at that as part of his coaching promises to do his best ? We are going to have years with him that we can pick his coaching apart like we do to every coach . Nothing he does with Bama next week will hurt us we are getting free publicity from him being in the spotlight that he can use sitting in a recruits living room

Whoever started this thread needs to follow the money. Tennessee football just so happens to have a lot of it. Even though, according to Forbes, we have dropped from #2 behind Texas in 2015 to around #10 in 2017 they still estimate our value at 82 million. As long as we have that type of money supporting our program we will not stay irrelevant forever.
