The states are doing the re-districting after the SCOTUS decision, so it's definitely on the states that are pretty much admittedly trying to keep majority black districts from existing.View attachment 832904
I know organizations tend to return to their old playbooks, but... are they unaware of NIL?
And it wasn't the states--it was the United States Supreme Court on a 6-3 vote.
So, in 2013, it wasn't racism which caused Tennessee to create an all-black district in Memphis. BUT, now, it's definitely racism which is removing the previously racist district formed in 2013?! Sure thing, Chief! I'm not a fan of folks "cancelling the NFL because of their woke politics" nor of the NAACP "cancelling states that re-district to avoid black majority districts."
It's ugly either way but you can see that one "cancellation" leads to tit-for-tat sort of "cancellation" by the other side.
That's silly. The district was CREATED based on race. The US SC says, doing so is unconstitutional, ya can't have a district engineered so that one race is expressly given control because of immutable characteristics. The states FIX the problem and adjust accordingly, and you want to tell me it is racist because they're undoing what was originally a racist act?The states are doing the re-districting after the SCOTUS decision, so it's definitely on the states that are pretty much admittedly trying to keep majority black districts from existing.

What is normal about a district that spans from South Williamson county all the way to Shelby CountySo, in 2013, it wasn't racism which caused Tennessee to create an all-black district in Memphis. Not only that, aren't a lot of the players of all colors from out of state on most D1 teams? Hardly seems congruent.View attachment 832904

I am so over these groups that exist to do nothing more than feed off grievance and create strife. The US SC ruled these districts UNCONSTITUTIONAL........that is a profound ruling, so to then get pissy about states that correct what was deemed unconstitutional, it smacks of a pathetic attempt to just keep stirring the pot.
I also find it insulting that they believe THEY speak for all black people, as if black people are one hive mind, rather than a collection of individuals that think on their own and have different perspectives.

Read the last sentence. They're saying black community, like it is a single-minded bloc.
I'm not arguing that, sir. The district was CREATED with the sole purpose of making it a "racial" district, which is unconstitutional. Just like districts that have been mentioned in other states and like what the US SC found unconstitutional.Bro, if they drew squares, Memphis would be majority black. Weird boundaries that don't make sense are the way to make sure it's not black, so who is drawing racist boundaries?
Majority-minority districts can be lawful, especially when they reflect a real community and/or Voting Rights Act concerns. The constitutional problem is when race predominates over traditional districting criteria without a strong legal justification. Memphis is a compact, majority-Black city, so a Memphis-centered majority-Black district is not the same thing as some bizarre race-only district engineered from scratch.

One can argue that in politics. I object to that kind of crap spilling into "we hate the NFL now" or "we need to boycott states that re-district."That's silly. The district was CREATED based on race.
