Tennessee is a dream job....

This is a terrible argument given the circumstances under which Dooley was hired.

Lane Kiffin was the most desired head coach when he was on the market and he felt like Tennessee was clearly the best job to take.

Tennessee is a great job and anyone who says differently either lacks self-esteem or is only judging based on the recent track wreck the program has become.

If he was teh #1 choice why didnt we offer it to him first? He was the Third person we offered it to.

Instead of Ranking the Schools/Programs, etc. my issue is with Coach Dooley. I would not have him ranked in the top 30-40 of potential Coaches.
Pretty simple, go hire a Top Ten Coach to match up with your Top Ten Program/Facilities.

Exactlly, when he was hired if you did not question the hire or know that he a stop gap you may not even watch football outside of Neyland.

Tennessee has an incredibly limited amount of in-state talent and is surrounded by states with behemoth universities playing in the SEC. Not only is it difficult to out-recruit teams like Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana State on their home turf (Tennessee has done very well at this in the past as indicated by rankings but, again, the landscape changes a lot in just a few years), it also means that Tennessee has to go up against the teams cherry picking these talent pools game-in and game-out every season to win a division or conference title.

Again, stop acting like this has EVER stopped us from recruiting at a high level in the past.

Unbiased view...New coach has 3 years at most to get it right at UT or anywhere else

1. Currently you have to play georgia, tennessee, florida and alabama every year
2. In-state recruiting is lacking and at least 5-6 sec schools in top 10 every year
3. While Tennessee might be Top 10 destination also potential coaching suicide

Need to take a flyer on someone like holgorsen, petrino, et al.

Tired of seeing posters think that Tennessee can only get a "no name" coach.

Tennessee is a top school in the SEC with the best facilities, top recruiting budget, and a fanbase that loves the Vols.

I don't believe for a minute that we can't get the best coaches here.

You are an absolutely delusional fan. This kind of mentality is all over the FF.

UT is a pretty sh*tty job. Its not even close to being top 10. Unless you have a personal connection here, there is no reason an "elite" coach would ever want to coach here.

If Dooley gets fired, UT is going to turn into a place where coaches go to die. The SEC isn't like it was in the 90's.

The sky is falling. The right coach changes all of this. How many stadiums have 100k seats and the resources we have? The SEC is competitive but why is USCe so good now? Bama languished for a decade. The answer is coaching.

Then why in the hell do you call your self a fan? If UT is so Sh##ty, why do you care? Go back to your bridge Bama troll

The sky is not falling.

Most recruits could care less about facilities.

Let's not cite USC. If you do, you would have to concede that rebuilding takes awhile (even with "proven winners"). Not good for the anti-Dooley crowd.

I am not just a fan but more importantly an alumnus.

I am realist. I don't let my love for UT blind me to the reality of the situation.

Really? How do you know they could care less about facilities? Ever been to the university of Memphis? Name one SEC school that doesnt have good facilities.....

I too am an alumnus, and you are the delusional one calling UT a sh##ty coaching job.

I'm not saying it doesn't help. The schools we are competing against have good facilities. Acting like our facilities are somehow a deciding factor in a recruits mind is outrageous.

USC wasn't a re-build it was a total build. Everything that happens in USC is a first. Did he go 1-7 in year two? Did he start out 0-3 or soon to be 0-5 in year three?

Well, have you ever been recruited? They do make a difference, trust me. No one wants to sit in a craptastic locker room, lift crappy weight, have a crappy weight room, crappy dorms. UT has outstanding facilities and it does help sell the product.

7-5, 8-5, 6-6, 7-6, 7-6 in his first four seasons.

UT is a complete rebuild. What is so hard to see about that?

Sigh. All SEC schools minus Vandy have good enough facilities to where it doesn't matter.

You are showing your blind irrationality.

Well damn dude, just EMO this post up some more with the "woe is us, UT sucks, we are craptacular" I, on the other hand, have a sound idea and blueprint for the way back into the light. HIRE a good coach to this outstanding place that the rest of the nation, besides yourself, knows is a top tier job. No, please go back to your bridge in Dothan, Alabama, I think i hear some gats coming your way......:eek:lol:
