Tired of seeing posters think that Tennessee can only get a "no name" coach.

Tennessee is a top school in the SEC with the best facilities, top recruiting budget, and a fanbase that loves the Vols.

I don't believe for a minute that we can't get the best coaches here.

No recruiting base, in the strongest conference and limited funds to pay said coach with. It's a middle of the road upper division job.

1) Athletic Department stability has been in a tailspin
2) Recruiting prowess by other schools is making us a tougher sell
3) Competition is at its highest level in a long time while we're in arguably our weakest state in decades
4) Fanbase, while supportive, has exceedingly unrealistic expectations
5) Money might be an issue
6) Better jobs at up and coming programs arguably more attractive

Funds are not limited. The money is there for the right coach. Get the right coach, and recruiting will be top tier.

Its simply just not what it used to be. I really hate to say that but, you guys have got to look at it from a unbiased perspective. You're not in the "Bob Stoops", "Jon Gruden" range. You're in the "Larry Fedora" range, and honestly, that might not be a bad option all things considered.

How many names did we burn through on our last two coaching headhunts? Why was there a seeming lack of interest then?

I don't believe that at all. Regardless of where we are now. We have good talent on this team and finally a little bit of depth. The right coach will invigorate the recruits and get the most out of our talent. No knock on Dooley, but the team has quit on him in games. A good coach will get 4 quarters

I don't know why some people act like it's hard to recruit here.

Derek Dooley gets top 25 classes.

By top do you mean top 10, 15, or 20? If you are being unbiased it's hard to put them in the top 10 right now.

UT is not a dream job.

It's a good job and should be enticing to some, but don't kid yourself, it's an absolute mess of a program.

The bones are there, but a lot of work has to be done to get it back to prominence.

Then rank them...this should be interesting. And try to not omit Notre Dame, otherwise the list is meaningless.

Wont rank, but heres a short list imo.

USC, notre same, OSU, michigan, penn st, UT, texas, florida, bama, lsu, OU, Neb, UGA.

No doubt we belong in this group. jmo

I think top 15. There was a sports writer on the radio a few weeks ago from the sporting news and he said top 15 job I agree. Even though if I was a coach it would be number 1 because I love Tennessee football.
