Because it is the right thing to do. Play by the rules or don't play.

OK then Like what 20% of the other Schools did? Just because others didn't get caught, or were better at cheating. And didn't Tennessee find the violations then notify the ncaa? And NOW everyone can pay players---"Legally". Really, this needs to be over and done; with maybe a $1 Million fine.

If the NCAA puts any undue penalty on Tennessee - and frankly, even 10 million sounds preposterous - then I will dream of the day we sue the everliving hell out of them. I'm sure, short of bans or excessive scholarship penalties, Tennessee won't, as it's in their interests to get beyond this incident. It's just something I yearn for. They've been dragging Tennessee through the mud for YEARS, dangling this threat of penalties for YEARS. My appetite to scorch the earth escalates with every passing day.

Unfortunately, it's just a dream, and if we actually did sue them in a court of law, in all likelihood it would quickly become a nightmare. So, at the end of the day, we're not going to sue them. We're not going to give them the actual power through discovery to seek basically anything they want document wise relating to Tennessee athletics, and compel the production of documents and put Fulmer and our boosters under oath, etc.

It is sad when some promote cheating and dishonesty. Makes one wonder what kind of parents they had.

I still don’t understand why Tennessee doesent tell them to stick it straight up their ass.

Because the NCAA is still the governing body. And courts have been very deferential to their decisions as such. We can’t just sue them and expect to make them bow down. People need to get over this mentality because it’s nonsense.

And again there are programs that face stood their ground and haven’t been screwed like Tennessee will be. All I’m saying is why don’t they stand up and push back for once. Why the hell do they always walk the line.

We are not stupid enough to open our Athletic Department up to the pre-trial discovery process, whether we run a clean department or not. It would give Beldar and crew, and anyone else with a grievance against us, a chance to cut deals with the NCAA in exchange for damaging testimony.
The move would be a huge loser.
The NCAA may be going away someday, but they run the show for now.

Negotiate the least painful deal and move on.

I don't disagree, but the counter is: Would the NCAA be willing to open itself to discovery? They may have more to lose than UT if exposed.

Idiots, idiots, idiots. Never cooperate. Now it's gonna cost us big time. Dear Administration: whatever comes out of this is on YOUR heads. How many times do we do the same thing and expect different results? Insanity!!

They aren’t going to hammer us nor will we sue. They are just figuring a way to make both sides look strong. But the NCAA as a governing body is what got us is to this point. I think most agree you need a governing body, but really who thinks the NCAA has been run well the last 20 years. I think most just want a fair even handed governing body that makes timely decisions and that the decisions don’t defy common sense. College football makes enough money to have a governing body that is efficient and fair and the rule book is clear not complex. A 9-0 Supreme Court ruling against you is no glowing endorsement from a group that probably couldn’t find nothing else on earth that they would vote 9-0 on! GBO
