I have noticed on other message boards that the Tennessee Vols are liked only in Tennessee and hated every where else in the nation, why?

That pretty much sums it up... other schools also have much larger "markets" that allow them to get a ton of love from the media. The Vols win, and win a lot. Not many schools have won as many games as we have in the last 10 years. Help me out here with some stats Allvol! :D

I don't care what people out of state think of the Vols. Let any of their teams try and post a .805 win percentage in the last ten years.

they are also jealous of the terrific fan base we have , the sea of orange at away games stands out in a crowd...and Neyland stadium has no equal for home field advantage

You'll appreciate this.

A couple of weeks ago, I actually had an older Lady Rebel in Oxford ask me: "So, why do you all always wear orange? Don't you have another color? Why don't you wear white?"

I say, I beg your pardon, Miss. But look around your beloved Grove. What do you see?

Having been in Syracuse and around this athletic community for 2+ years, the exploits of UT have become even more amazing to me. The Vols have a lot to be proud of, and are shockingly consistent. Everyone else is just jealous. :D

You've also got to admit we're easy to hate from a goober POV (iow if you're a goober). We're hillbillies, we've got about the fattest coach in the country, our main color is orange (about the weakest fashion-choice in the world), and, damn-it, no matter how embarrassingly we lose in any particular game, we never, ever go away.

Thanks! Exactly what I wanted to see to prove the point. Do you actually know anyone that "likes" FSU, besides FSU fans? Most everyone I know likes Bowden, but thinks their players are thugs. Hmmmm... seems like ppl say the same about us, except they also hate Coach Fulmer.

IMO, FS WHO is a likeable team.

I think the nation hates us because of the color orange, rocky top, we are "hicks" and winning always upsets everyone.

Everyone needs to get over our caoch being fat, because he's not.

Cause..... :number1: :number1:

We bleed orange and are the most devoted fans to the best college team
ever!!!!! We're "RockyTop" singing "hicks" ,and I speak for myself,
with a special hound dog by our sides...

It's a good thing being hated, shows they know the best and wish they could
be us......

GO VOLS......
GO BIG ORANGE........

Alot of attitude against Tennessee was defined in the 70's and 80's by one Keith Jackson who hated UT and he was evident of his hate in the way he called UT games.

Some friends and I were told my some drunk Old Maid chick that we "aren't allowed in the Grove anymore" after that game because we were cheering coming out of the stadium.

People jealous over Rocky Top? Give me a break! The three most popular all-time fight songs are ND, Michigan, and USC. Rocky Top probably doesn't even crack the Top 15. I wouldn't recognize it if I heard it.

were hated by people where i live beacuse EVERY team near me plays "under par" and ive always loved Tennessee, and the majority of my friends here are Penn State fans, and when we are winning and in glory they are losing ann taking it out on the dynasties like UT. Were hated for loving our team enough to say each and every year we will win it all and wont back down from anyone. I think if I weren't a Tennessee fan college football wouldnt mean that much to me...each and every year I remember glorious moments from the years past and have many to remember, (one of my favorites being when we beat MIAMI last year and ended their national championship hopes) UT fans, players, and coaches have made a dynasty, and the glory of that will never falter.

Anothor idiotic statement. In case you haven't noticed, lots of ppl KNOW Rocky Top... and they HATE it. Is it because we play it every time we score, as well as most of the time when we make a big play? Possibly. It's probably more b/c we sing along like a bunch of "hillbilly morons". Either way, you should learn sarcasm when you read it.
