Tennessee has had a lot of great RBs

But none could take it to the house from anywhere on the field better than Jay Graham. Ask Bama (twice) and OSU.

Charlie Garner was with him but not better.

I have mad respect for Jay, loved him running at UT and Charlie, but ....

Reggie Cobb, Chuck Webb, Johnnie Jones, Kelsey Finch, Jeff Powell and Jamal Lewis would dispute that claim.

No, TN still split him out at WR often even after his Freshman year. He made the All SEC team as a WR in 74' his Sophomore year. He primarily played RB his JR and SR seasons, but still moved out to WR on occasion and also was used as kick returner as well.

He only had 10 receptions in ‘74 and made UPI All-Sec as a WR. Had 128 rushing attempts and was 2nd team All-Sec as a RB.

Loved watching all of those mentioned play but my favorite will always be Jonathan Jones of Mumford Tennessee. Wish he had the opportunity to play on better teams.
Rural West TN has given UT some great players

Jones, Doug Atkins, Tim Priest, Jim Noonan, Chad Clifton, Ernest Fields, etc.......

We've had a wealth of riches with shortened duration. Sometimes it terrible luck. I'd wager the majority here would put Chuck Webb and Jamal Lewis at the top of the pure talent list and both had their careers dramatically curtailed or ended outright by injury. Others had carries limited simply because there was so much other talent around them. Graham's Fr year for instance had him behind Charlie Garner, "Little Man" Stewart, Aaron Hayden and Mose Phillips.

Chuck Webb was the best, most explosive RB I have seen at UT. Too bad he blew out his knee and never got to make it a career.

Add Lewis and I’m with you. Too bad that they both blew out their knees and Webb before that was overcomeable.
