We're 1 coach away from being better than Alabama - winning fixes everything. The fans, facilities, money, passion, media coverage, schedule - it's all here. Somebody with some guts come get the opportunity of a lifetime (and a lot of money).

Does the leadership at Tennessee even care about being a top program?

Never thought I'd ask myself that, but I don't believe it's true anymore.

The answer is right in front of our faces. Hires in all major sports in the last 10 years have been lackluster (I will admit I like Rick Barnes).

Fans aren't the problem ( attendance and revenue prove that). What else is left?

They haven't cared since the glory days.

But I also think that most of the boosters do care. Problem is the one booster that pulls all the strings either doesn't care, is incompetent, or some sick combination of both.

Don't tell that to the national media!

The management and top-tier Boosters are killing what Robert Neyland made. We will keep hiring the same type of coach that started with Dooley until this is changed.

Just bring Flumer back and start a process to train a new coach. Provide a great staff of coaches that can recruit around him.Coaches that bleed orange/VFL we need to get back to Tennessee football the Tennessee way. This happens with Tennessee people. We have a source in Flumer he has done it. We can put this baby to bed with Flumer starting the process of getting Tennessee football back on the map.I for one would be excited because I know it would work.I'm not saying Flumer long term I'm saying let him start the process for recovery if we can't find a winning coach.

Yeah, it has every thing except stable and diligent leadership. Simple. Just wipe away all the politics and power plays and watch the wins and titles roll in.

I would agree.

But unfortunately, everything that has transpired over the past week has made the program look unstable and desperate.

Anybody interested will want a huge (overpay) paycheck and probably now a huge buyout.

And will the fanbase be happy with a Kevin Sumlin type that brings home winning records, but no championships?

I don't think so.

You need to do your homework. The UT Athletic Dept is a wreck.

To get a good coach you have to have a competent AD! We don't.

Lane Kiffin, himself, said UT has everything it needs....

Just needs a coach....a real coach.....

This is true. We only have one problem. Volnation seems to think that we are gonna hire a coach that can win the national championship in year one. IT ISN'T HAPPENING FOLKS. 1st....We need to focus on winning the east. 2nd...we need to get the talent to win the SEC championship. That is where we have 2nd and 3rd string 5*'s. Gonna be a while before that happens. 3rd..... when #2 happens, then we can start looking at winning National Titles. So all of you unrealistic vol fans need to bring it down to reality and understand that we have to start at square 1. Bring in a pretty decent coach that will not appeal to everyone's idea and let him surround himself with a great coaching staff so that we can start at the above #1.

If we're actually willing to spend the money, which it appears we are, then here's a list of relatively proven winning football coaches that we should strongly consider making a run at (in no specific order).

Gary Patterson
Bobby Petrino
Mark Dantonio
Mike Leach
