So, I'm sitting at dinner talking to my husband about Saturday's game and what time we're gonna leave the house to drive up. Obviously we don't expect a big crowd since we aren't doing well. But it's also homecoming, so the alumni will have to be factored in because a lot of them will be there for other events besides football.

Then I mention next Saturday's game, a game I've been looking forward to longer than any of them. I've had this date circled and I really wanted to see the Vols against Mizzou. Now, thanks to a little shoulder surgery thing that has to be done Monday I'm not sure about our plans. :cray:

And it got me to thinking about how varied Tennessee football is from one fan to the next. It's pretty awesome that it is as big as it is to so many of us, for so many different reasons. So whether you are totally ticked off at the state of our program, or if you're someone who is a fan just because you're a Vol, I'm proud to be one of you.

GO VOLS!!!

Great post Volleygirl!!! I really appreciate what you had to say. As for your shoulder problem, I pray that all goes well for you and that you have a speedy recovery.

I cannot be at the game on Saturday, but know that in spirit I will be right there cheering on the VOLS with you, your husband, and all Vol fans. Go Vols!!! ><>

The following comments are not slanted in any direction or with any agenda, just how I feel about my school. Yes I want to win in all sports, we practially created womens basketball and our swim teams have been really good fir a long time; football just happens to be a southern religion. But to me I also want to have a very ethical program, good academics and known as a top notch university. We have lots to be proud of a great long history and tradition. A top five ranked MBA school especially in logistics, a world class forensics school. Very good medical and dental schools, very good engineering and I am sure more others can name. And I am serious when I say a top 10 band in the US. Winning every football game without the rest would be very empty to my way of thinking. We are UT, the VOLS!

I agree with you, Volleygirl ought to be invited to speak to the team... to remind them about what it means to be Big Orange. ><>

Surgery prevented me from going to a game. I am still going to try for Kentucky. Great to be a Vol. There is no where else I would rather be.

Best wishes for your speedy recovery.

Well said by all. This is a special place. Some who have lived here forever don't realize it but those who have been around and seen college football at many different places know....Rocky Top is a special place!

Good luck and speedy recovery. Always great to read your positive posts - especially when its hard to feel good about what's been going on with the Big Orange lately.

Good luck with the surgery. I've had shoulder surgery for a torn and detached labrum. It was no fun.

Will pray you will have a quick turn around.
