Still, the national title appears to be what Jones is thinking. And with a few exterior omens, he may have some luck on his side.

These omens, by the way, can make anybody believe in football Gods. There have been consistencies in the past that everybody must pay attention to, and perhaps the aligning of the stars means something.

Or perhaps not, and you can make a coincidence out of anything.

Here is another reason the Vol's will win the National Championship. Every year that the Virginia Tech Hokies faced a top ranked Power 5 team in the first few games of the season, that said team has went on to win the NC that same year.

2014 - Ohio State
2009 - Alabama
2007 - LSU
2004 - USC

I'm not superstitious. That's a fact. However OP, being it's the UF game you've addressed, I'm all in with this thread. What's my "omen?" I've watched 4 games these teams have played in Neyland and 1 in the swamp. As a sophomore at UT (1970) I partied hardy in the student section as our guys embarrassed UF 38-7. The next year a carload of us road-tripped to Gainsville and witnessed an epic battle. Fortunately, our drive back was even rowdier than the one down there after UT heroically...but barely... out-muscled those gayduhs 20-13. In 1990 I flew in from Austin to witness a 45-3 chomping of the lizard boys; flew back to Knoxville in 1992 to enjoy a more closely contested game, which UT won 31-14. 1998? Yessssss! I was one of the maniacs who rushed the field following the game winning FG in OT. Five and zilch are the Vols over UF when this same ol' Vol's been there to scream bloody murder. I'm going to be there on 9/24/16 with my lovely wife. Good omen here. UT's gona' win and I'm rushing the field ala-1998. What's your omen, Vol Nation faithful?:zeitung_lesen:

Well I guess you better be there then! My omen is after the Vols won the championship in '98 I purchased a national championship pennant and had a professional pic made with my kids all in Orange with said pennant. After that we began to slowly spiral downward. And about 4yrs ago that pennant and pics was taken by a tornado, which was absolutely a blessing in disguise because we wound up with a much nicer house. Since then my Vols have had a steady climb upwards. So that pennant may have been bad luck

My omen was the 1998 national championship. Three games into the season, a friend of mine was a huge Michigan fan. They had just won the 1997 title and my buddy kept ragging me about it. He made a trip home to Detroit and while he was there he bought me a Michigan cap and calendar that had a little device inside that played the school song. He gave me the cap and calendar. When I opened the calendar and pushed on the device it played Rocky Top! We looked at each other just knowing what would happen. The rest is history.
