Tennessee football preview.....

Name the one that doesn't fit talent wise- Shuler, Manning, Martin, Clausen, Ainge.

Considering all but two failed in the NFL and one of those two has had a losing season and was benched in favor of Ole Rick Clausen, the answer is pretty easy. I don't think it's the one you were looking for, though.

Guys guys guys, don't worry. Dooooon't worry. This season we have a secret weapon.

No they weren't... talk about stupid comments. BG had a QB with a excellent arm who was young. The year after UM left, they won the MAC... something I don't think he accomplished there.

Utah had Alex Smith as a young QB coming up... hardly an "empty" cupboard there.

And the point is? They didn't have Ainge and McNeil and had spent all spring working on the physical part of the game.

Harrell didn't play and Mapu is far more talented than McBride. When the D failed last year, it failed because of poor DT play. That will be improved. Yes. I realized that months ago. However, I still think you're absolutely wrong... so we'll see.

These comments go hand in hand in hand. You don't "think" something therefore nothing will dissuade you from believing the rest of the stuff you posted... I seem to remember you being pretty negative with various players UT ended up landing as well, right?

Your negative bias simply isn't the realism you claim.

I'm optimistic and maybe too much so. I see some weaknesses and some obvious pitfalls. Some of the more important things won't be know until the first game next year concerning leadership, team gelling, and how the ball will bounce. However this is a team with championship caliber talent and coaches that have won games and championships... then I compare them with other teams in the SEC and what they've lost as well as schedule strengths.

stupid comments, BG had a guy that never made it on any other level as QB. the man was great under urban. who was alex smith before urban got there, answer nobody. point is we still looked horrible for the spring game and if our o-line doesn't protect any better than they did that day ainge won't be around very long. i thinks you give mapu alittle to much credit, maybe alot to much credit. i wasn't negative about the recruits we landed i just stated after you commit you shouldn't take anymore visits (melacon). i just tend to disagree with you because i just can't see the logic. i look at UT and see a team that will not win the SEC, they just are not deep enough. i completely disagree about he coaches.

I've been a bit skeptical about some of the talk I've heard regarding Mapu. Here are his stats. It's funny that he sjt said he was "far more talented than McBride." They are actually pretty similar. Both about the same size and both split time at DT and DE.

Player Bio: J.T. Mapu :: Football

I'd be surprised if Mapu manages to equal Turk's total stats. Note: not every season is included on these stats.

Player Bio: Turk McBride :: Football
