Tennessee football players involved in brawl

I haven't said a thing about this and I think the reason why is I am disgusted our team would be involved in being such world class a$$holes! Ridiculous that we have to suck it up on and off the field. When the few wreck it for so many. We had good things going.

I hope they get all this cleared up soon and any suspensions are made before the florida game. UT needs a full roster for that game.

when do we hear any news from dooley............i have read that some people thought today we would hear something, i am guessing friday. i will be glad when this is over and done.,,,,i know i am old but sometimes i still get anxious.

That woman is high on coke! I know it...telltale signs! Sorry, but she don't need to be talking like she's lead investigator on the scene?!?! Really?

I don't care if we win a game this year or next I wish coach D would kick every single player that was at that bar that night off the team!I can not root for a bunch of thugs.

post from TOS from Warner Agee:
This has not been collaborated but so far my informants have been 100 percent correct.
Greg King has left Knoxville with his mother and has headed back to memphis. I'd say the chances he will be back are, at best, 50/50. Walls has an attorney and apparently there has been some type of dust up between the lawyer and the football offices at UT. My info is that the lawyer believes that after Walls is charged that he (the lawyer) can cut a deal to a reduced charge.
Apparently there is a fear right now that fat white boy is going to file law suit or law suits against certain players and perhaps, the nightclub in question as well. Judgement in lawsuit stands for 10 years, I believe.
I am beginning to believe that, unless Hughes was involved in kicking outside, that he will survive this incident and play this fall.
May have a further update later today.
TIWIW...

The bottom line is that 6-7 football players were beating 1 person on the ground. Every one of those players should be kicked off of the team, regardless of who started the fight. Even if Russell started it, the others could have tried to break it up rather than beat the person on the ground. He easily could have been killed.

Whoever punched the police officer outside should be gone along with whoever kicked him (if that is a different person(s)).

Whoever came back with their shirts off, wanting to fight more should be gone.

--

The players have to know who did what. If I were Dooley, I would tell them that if those who did the above things don't admit it or are not identified by other players, all 17 who were present are gone for helping to cover it up.

I would also threaten to kick the rest of the team off the team, because some of them have to know something, and even though I don't know who, they have to. Then I would cancel the 2010 season, because after all, the whole team is gone. That way we can start over with nice young men who don't fight - either in bars at 2am, or right after games on the sidelines. Then I would suspend Mike Hamilton indefinitely, if I were Dooley.

Fyp... Thanks for stopping by.

Geez if I hear one more person mention the fact that the guy was a cop... He was an off duty patron of Bar Knoxville at 2 in the morning, and if you know anything about Bar Knoxville then you would agree that anyone in that $@&# hole at 2 in the morning is a.) a disgusting female, most likely STD ridden or b.) a sleezy male trying to get these females. Hope I didn't offend anyone :)

that may be the dumbest suggestion I've seen yet. Congrats, you win

wow - and I thought wheatons paragraph posts in the recruiting/NCAA forum were bad - then his pulls that piece of crap post out. Hilarious.

I can't say as I completely disagree with him except for the punishment.
They should suffer some kind of suspension.
They were beating a man on the ground in the bar and then outside the bar they did the same. IMO it's hard to defend that.

agreed. getting in a bar fight should get you kicked off the team, but cold cocking a kid on national tv and robbing someone are minor offenses and should be treated internally.

You might be my new favorite poster on VN. I couldn't agree with you more. That and that chick on your avatar.

Did anyone else hear the victim was a KPD officer? If so, someone tell VN poster Count Dooley, I don't think he heard about it.

Wheaton, if you visit Knoxville this fall, while wearing your Duck gear, please be sure to stop by Bar Knoxville and take your free shot to the back of the head of anyone who looks like a UT football player weighing over 300 lbs and standing about 6' 4" tall.

The cameras will be off.

The other players and people you mention weren't eye-witnesses and/or participants. So, it wouldn't make sense to hold them accountable for not coming forward with what happened.

On what basis do you think this?

6-7 giant football players stomping on one person, kicking an unconscious man on the ground and coming back for more are not typical of a bar fight. Where it happened has little bearing on the seriousness of it.

Blount was physically assaulted before he retaliated with the punch. You should know that since it was shown on national tv, as you note. His response was not treated as a minor offense. He was suspended for most of the season, which was a severe punishment relative to those given out to other players for on-field fights. Blount vs. Large Football Player is not even the same ball park as 6-7 Large Football Players vs. one non-athlete on the ground and later an unconscious man.

Masoli was suspended for an entire season. Not a minor punishment.

The term "treated internally" is typically used in reference to not specifying the punishment. That wasn't the case with Blount or Masoli. So, I don't see how it applies.
