Tennessee football players involved in brawl

Dude clarify this before some folks have a field day with you.

im not going to worry about the PR police... you walk like a duck and talk like a duck then you must be a duck...

take that for what you want

we had a point guard kill someone (ramar smith). players trying to rob a gas station on the strip, riding around with guns and drugs in a car, gang beating a off duty cop to the point he has bleeding in his brain and is in ICU....

this isint just a one time thing..

i dont mean "breed" as your race, i mean it as the type of person you are

Yea, not much to like about any of this story. I generally dislike Knoxville police and also dislike wannabe thugs. I never understand the stories of multiple men attacking another man. Our D1 football players can't even stand up and have a one on one fight? Disgusting.

It is kind of pathetic. A weed-eating football player should be able to handle himself 1v1.

because you use the word "whippersnapper"

I didn't say they were trapped or there is a consipracy. I said that going to Bar Knoxville is almost begging to be put in a situation like this. A lot of trashy non-students go there and have no qualms and nothing to lose by instigating a fight.

I used the word whippersnapper because you seem to be under the impression that I was born druing the Wilson administration. I thought you were saying it was a trap when you said:

It's a trap for athletes with everything to lose as we have seen tonight.

and

What I was saying it that it's essentially a trap - as in they can easily get caught in a situation like this.

My bad.

Where did you get I was defending Fulmer? College sports go in cycles, hopefully this is our trough. Right now we aren't very good, and it seems as though we recruit idiots.

I am hopeful it will turn around sooner rather than later.

By saying it is becoming a joke means it hasn't been in the past. If you think players didn't get in trouble a few years ago when Fulmer was coach then you need to research. It is no more of a joke now than it was then. Oh, and we haven't been great in a while. No SEC championships since 98.

11:10 Update on injured officer's condtion

10News spoke with the brother of the officer who was injured, Robert Capouellez. Todd Capouellez says his brother is going to be fine, though he will likely be in the hospital for a couple more days. From what he understands about the accident, he says his brother was speaking with a bouncer that he knows, and when the fight moved outside the bar, he tried to help break it up.

UT Medical Center officials say Capouellez is in stable condition.

According to a post on Volquest, his brother, who was on Hal Hill's show, said he hit his head on the sidewalk when he was pushed down. He has a small fracture to the back of his skull, where it struck the sidewalk.

While a fractured skull isn't a minor issue at all this is far less overt (kicking the cop while he was down) than what the media was reporting.

I wasn't either.

At this point the had the liberty to bar hop at 2 a.m. This is a responsibility issue. They totally disreguarded that. And the price some of them may pay will affect the program they are/were apart of.

it's totally their responsibility for their actions. At the same time though, it's not the university's responsibility to hold their hands and/or babysit them either (exaggerated terms here obviously)

very glad to hear he'll be okay, also glad to hear the head wound was from hitting his head on the ground and not caused from another person

What if he's not? Wasn't Myles already in one situation like this before? Seems the University let him off with a slap on the wrist. If this guy's really hurt, might be a huge suit against UT. The NCAA's ears have to be perked up after all of the trouble in K'ville.

I forgot how squeaky clean Georgia is.

I don't get the people on here who are trying to justify, rationalize, or make excuses. Take off the orange glasses for a minute. Yes, we have to let the facts sort out. But, if what is being reported holds up -- then one police officer was punched in the face and another was taken in to the street and hit and kicked by a mob of players until he ended up in the hospital in ICU. If those are indeed the facts, then ANYONE associated with the incident should be arrested AND kicked off the team.

We are better than this, people. We don't need those kinds of thugs.

It sounds like a case of the officer starting a fight and it breaking out between two individuals. Difference is one individual had friends there. It sounds like the rest of the kids jumped to protect or back up whoever was swung at. I dont see anything bad in that situation but protecting their friends in an altercation. The bad part is DMJ striking a dressed officer and running. This off duty guy sounds like he instigated it given the eye witness reports on here and what we gather from GoVols and new sites. Hopefully that is the case and it is proven as such. I would suggest to DMJ and DaRick to find out where the cop is and visit him giving their apologies on the situation.

you screw with a cop right or wrong you deserve whatever you get,

That is the dumbest statemet I have ever read.

Right or wrong? If you are in the right, it is not screwing with a cop, it means the cop is in the wrong and you have a right to protect yourself or do whatever is within your rights.

If you are in the wrong, then the cop only has the right to do what he is allowed to do under the law, and if does any more, he is the bad guy and is breaking the law.

Therefore, your entire statement is stupid and not according to the law.

theyre a team. they play as a team, eat as a team, and fight as a team. you want them to not stand together? i agree this is a bad situation but come on man. This wasnt like the guy came over and challenged him to a duel of fisticuffs. They got run-up on in the bar and they all stood up for and protected each other. And they finished the play.

I really think Myles is the only one who will receive significant punishment. Possibly Hughes too, he is liable for the off duty guy's injury.
