Tennessee football players involved in brawl

Stop making excuses. These guys aren't above the law because what they did is supposedly human nature.

I am not making excuses. I am stating facts. If you can't recognize that your head is in the sand. Not everyone is a saint is all I'm saying. Never said they were above the law. Stop jumping to conclusions. I'm upset like you but not naive.

dooley needs to issue a ban on being in any kind of bars or the strip past 8 pm untill they can earn their freedom again....

for the ENTIRE TEAM.

what sucks is dooley isint going to have a choice...he is going to either have to kick myles off the team and suspend rogers...which mean we wont have them for flordia, oregon....jesus...

don't be shocked if everyone there doesn't at a minimum have to miss one game

Its funny that would mention Jesus in this. That's the answer to these kids problem.

the cop should have realized this trashy bar was not a place for him. when you become a cop you assume a different level of responsibility and cannot act like normal people reguardless of whether you are on duty or not. especially at 2am in a known underage drinking bar near a college campus. not only should dooley ban the players from going there, kpd should ban their offiers from going there. then maybe they would go out of business and someone could open a real bar in its place.

well let's just start an entire police-state while we're at it.

please....

Guys. You think a bar fight in July is going to hurt recruiting in January? Do you really think that recruits and parents aren't aware that bar fights occur around college campuses?

This wasn't rape, armed robbery, or assault with a deadly weapon. It was incredibly stupid but it pales in comparison to what many other teams have dealt with and weren't hurt by in recruiting.

I understand completely that you don't need this kind of exposure but it provides and opportunity as well as a problem.

PS- Kudos to the guys who don't think character matters. Just about any 3* kid with character now looks better than Myles.

If these guys are truly guilty, I hope they're all kicked off the team regardless of how good they are or how many there are.

I think one reason these things keep happening is we keep bad seeds on the team and they end up mentoring the new guys. It's a cycle. If we can get rid of all of the punks, maybe we'll end up with law abiding citizens who will tell the new guys that getting into bar fights and incidents involving firearms is nothing more than a way to end up swapping a million dollar a year career playing a game for a minimum wage career using a mop and slopbucket.

Great, an off duty cop gettin free drinks, but then wants to pull his big bad badge out and play like he's in the right. Gotta love it.

geez leave out the fact he's a cop!!! he's in icu!!!! NO ONE deserves that kind of beating!!!!!

Leave the cops out of blame. As bad as i hate it it was our football players all under age, except for Moore, in a drunken stupor.

You're right, they were much too happy for their own good. :lolabove:

Being happy is one thing, blindly believing that Dooley's recruits were somehow different, and above ill behavior is entirely another.

Some of you act like if you don't constantly praise and shout Go Vols at every 3* recruit you somehow aren't a fan.

So now the cop, whom I am certain you have never met, is a prick because he was in a brawl with our dumbasses. Classic.

Not what I said. I was agreeing that cops can be pricks. I did not however say he was one. Please read before posting.

Also I think that unless they just jumped him for no reason at all, both sides are to blame. I do think seven on one is way over kill, but I don't think they just jumped him for no reason.

Where in any police standards or any laws does it say that a police officer cannot have an alcoholic beverage when he's off duty? Also, where does it say that they aren't allowed to accept free drinks given to them by their friends who are bar owners?

Last I checked, there isn't prohibition anymore and this cop did nothing to instigate the fight, nor did he antagonize anyone from initial reports, therefore, he did nothing illegal. All he did was attempt to break it up and being a cop, I'm sure he saw the potential for danger for everyone near it.

He is allowed to drink. But is he allowed to flash the badge and use the off duty cop thing when he is drunk?

When he says them, could you post them for us?

He says there are a bunch of rumors and that one is there was some type of provocation from the off duty officer. Players reportedly there were Janzen Jackson, Greg King, Eric Gordon, Marlon Walls, Rodgers, Moore, Marsalous Johnson and Hughes and Myles.

So you expect this behavior? There is a major difference between this and "chasing tail." The sand is on your head if you can't see that. This is entirely unacceptable.
