So since he's a cop, he cannot enjoy drinks in a club after midnight?? Wtf?? Also, he can't commit a public service which is his job when he's off duty?? It's not like the dude is a judge or anything and can't be seen drinking or out late in public.

He was probably having a good time and a drink in a "college bar" because he knew the owners of the bar and probably got free drinks...

why are ppl posting about cops being d#cks, apparently fball players can be d#cks as well as lawyers, ceo's, lebron and any other profession

I have been to a many a bar and shady night club in my life have had my arse kicked and kicked some arse, never once did i f with a cop.

Maybe it was the only "happenin" bar going on that night? I don't know Knox's night life...The cop didn't look too old from the pic posted in this thread earlier...

Dooley can recruit and sign as many 2 an 3 star guys as he wants if this junk doesn't happen anymore. I can't even express how sick of waking up to this type of news I am. I am in shock.

there are so many questions that have to be answered before any action will be taken by law enforcement or the university. who knows, this cop could have been drunk out of his mind and deserved this, just because he's a cop does not make him immune to the law as well.

This is the type of young man we want on this team. The type that will wear the orange proudly and realize what an opportunity he has to play in a tradition-rich school in front of some of the most passionate fans in college football.

I didn't say that. I just said I hope UT checks it out and gets full details. For the same reason you think it seems normal, some of us find it a little strange he just happened to be out at 2 am and ended up in the middle of the fight. Again, he could have been just having a relaxing night out and was just trying to help. Not a smart place to choose to do that at, but besides the point. I just hope it gets checked out.

I'm not reveling in it. That's not my point. These incidents happen everywhere. I'm simply pointing out that just because a coach comes in and says he emphasizes character doesn't suddenly turn UT into a monastery. My beef is with fans who act as if Kiffin, whose team did pretty well in the classroom and off the field, was running a loose ship because he didn't go on TV and say "character" every third word and hire Tori Noel to treat player like they were five years old. Kiffin had three guys try to recover money from a third rate pot dealer and a guy steal a shirt. Dooley has had a guy get drunk and hood surf and a brawl. I don't think either scenario indicates the coach is lax in discipline. I think it exhibits the fact they are dealing with college kids. The decision making of 18-22 year olds is never going to be confused with the wisdom of Solomon.

agreed!! our guys were underage, out at 2am....so what if the bar is 18+ we all know they were drinking...have you seen darick's mug shot??? his eyes tell the truth. they beat up a guy for what ever reason....COP OR NOT...the guy is in ICU. an earlier post made the comment cops can be pricks..blah blah...Prick, jock, nerd, geek, mr football, NO ONE deserves to be beat up by 4 or 6 people and end up in a hospital bed....

Oh.. so off-duty cops aren't allowed to go where they want to? I didn't realize they had less rights than us. It doesn't matter if it was a cop or not. Several players were involved in a fight, and you shouldn't be trying to defend the players by saying that the cop was looking for trouble. This lies squarely on the players, not the PD. If this was UGA of UF then all of you blaming the cop now would be saying that their players are thugs and beat up cops. Quit the double-standard.
