Those are some pretty high standards you have there. A national championship every 4 years, really? Can you name one program that wins a national championship every 4 years? I'll be waiting for your answer.

yeah it's been way too long. the next 3 years will determine whether or not we become mediocre in the history of college football. why? because all of the other powerhouse's just keep winning. If we have to make a coaching change at the end of the season. Tennessee must get the right man or we will become mediocre.

'76 - 6 wins, '77 - 4 wins, '78 - 5 wins, '79 - 7 wins, '80 - 5 wins.

That's just a small part of our history and 4 of those years were led by Majors. We'll be alright. Stop being so dramatic. Nobody wants to be mediocre.

Seems to me some of these posters on here who start threads only go back as far as Fulmer. The Vols will return, we always have and always will, some of you youngins need to man up some.

Can we all see the bright side in this thread? I haven't seen VN so united in ANYTHING in 7 days (if not years). We are almost all in complete agreement about what a stupid thread this is. WE HAVE SOME COMMON GROUND AFTER ALL. Now if we can either talk this one off the ledge (seems unlikely at this point) or give him a little shove, we will be that much more united.

OP...thank you for bringing us together in agreement of your insanity.

The level of panic in some of you folks is comical yet alarming.. I tell you, I would NOT want to be in a dangerous or life threating situation with some of you.. Frankly I think you would panc and get people killed..

You remind me of the reporter charachter in the first two Diehard movies.. I think we may need to give John McClain a call to come slap the sh!t out of some of you to shut you the hell up..

The more I think about it who needs John McClain, I think Holly could probably handle the job..

Geez, we were in far worst place throughout '77 (4-7 including a lost to Kentucky) and '78 (5-5-1). Yes, it was terrible, but we never, ever believed we would lose our history and not make it back. Grow a pair!

Given some of the things our state legislature has done this past year and the current behavior of our fanbase after one loss, we are certainly are in danger of becoming a real laughing stock across the nation. That I know for sure
