Tennessee @ Florida College Gameday?

Don't think I agree with that. I think most Vols want to see a motivated, well-coached, well-prepared team that executes and brings on the fight for 60 minutes. If that happens, we will finish better than .500 and Lane will satisfy the fanbase except for the few remaining fulmer supporters and the irrational minority who expect the impossible.

At this point, I think that 7-5 is the low end of what we accomplish, unless we get decimated by injuries on the lines. Frankly, if we play smart football and execute like we did last weekend (i.e. the things that WE can control like false starts, delay of games, few missed assignments), we'll beat everyone we should and possibly a team we shouldn't (georgia or ole miss would be the most likely candidates).

So far, Kiffin has been an A+ for this program, and there is a solid foundation. If we get our heads kicked in at florida, most will shrug it off, I mean we have the past 2 years right?

I appreciate what you are saying. I just wonder how long any new coach would last at UT without beating UF, given the recent scores and the fact that UT fans are plum sick and tired of seeing Tebow and Meyer every time they turn on sportscenter.

Any coach would get several years at this point, if the program is headed in the right direction. Hamilton and the majority of fans realize that fulmer dug a pretty damn big hole for us to climb out of.

If UT wins saturday vs UCLA, there is a 100% chance they are at the swamp the next week.

Exactly, If UT loses well... they probably won't be there. However, If UT beats UCLA, it will be much easier for ESPN to hype up the game. I also think they will move the game back if they can to 7pm like a flex in NFL games. Have they ever done that before in college games????

UT vs UF >>>>> Texas vs Tech. No comparison

Why would ESPN want to hype up a game that is being telecast on CBS? They are competitors ya know :)

Per the SEC TV contracts, CBS gets first choice of games & the times are pre-set. ESPN & CBS aren't going to cooperate with each other to adjust kick off times on a weekly basis.

zero chance that happens. CBS has the game. it's at 3:30. a lot of people ask this for some reason

We've gone through 9 coaches in 83 years... 3 of which essentially interim coaches.

Tennessee is not known for being terribly impulsive.

Here is the updated schedule for college gameday:

Segment 1: Herbstreit describes the underwear Tebow will wear for the game. He will also unvail his "why Oklahoma is still better than Texas, even though it's been forever since they actually beat them."

Segment 2: Desmond Howard visits with Urban Meyer and discusses how he is the greatest coach that ever lived.

Segemnt 3: Fowler gives us an update on some ridiculous tennis match that no one could ever care about.

Segment 4: Herbstreit blames Lane Kiffin for WW1 & 2, communism as a whole, and 9/11. We also bring in Pat Forde to explain that since Lane Kiffin took all of 15 minutes to get his offense going, he sucks and should quit and never coach again.

Also, he will begin to come up with excuses as to why OSU lost to USC again, and that it doesn't matter, winning the Big 11 means an automatic trip to the NC.

haha- i love. It we have to play the villains, so be it. Everyone else in the country knows who the real villians are.

It's incredibly easy to make him the goat.

And I can predict the reaction here, as well.

If Florida wins by a wide margin and its ugly, Vols fans will mostly back Kiffin up. They'll say, well, Florida was just better, we knew that coming into it, its not Kiffin's fault, he at least has us geting talked about. That sort of thing, all of whcih is true.

But if by the end of the season UT is in the 7-5, 6-6 region, you'll see a wave of resentment within the Vol fan ranks. And if he were to get beat by UF next year? Revolt.

With all do respect, you could not be more wrong with the second part of your statment. I was right with you untill that 2nd paragraph. Kiffen did no come into this job promising championships in the first season. It's going to take a couple of years, but he will get us there. And I'm sure an argument thats going to come from any Florida fan is going to be. "Well he promised they would beat Florida this year." As a matter of fact, no he did not. If you go back and listen to what Lane says right after how he's going to enjoy singing Rocky Top all night long after they beat Florida, he says, "Mike (Hamilton) told me to say that, that wasn't my idea." So no one should expect us to beat Florida this year. Thats not to say we can't, but we just can't expect it. But as long as the Wetern Kentucky game is not the only game won by Tennessee this year, I don't think there will be a problem between the fans and Coach Kiffin. I mean, look at what he has done in the short time he's been here. Hired one of the most highly touted Coaching Staff's in the Nation, took a recruiting class ranked somewhere in the 70's when he was hired all the way to top 10, including stealing 2 top prospects from the Gators on signing day, and the #1 prospect overall in Bryce Brown. So unless some kind of meltdown happens, Kiffin will have time to get this team back to where they should be.
