Tennessee v Florida is the first CBS game of the season...

And yeah, they have come to CBS day games before...

The 2002 Florida game comes to mind, as does 1998 at Georgia.

ESPN/ABC/Disney tried out pushing ESPN/ABC games almost exclusively for a few years, but I think they are over that... besides with the new SEC contract they'll get every SEC team on TV more than anyone else. Eating a CBS game for a week wouldn't be that big a deal.

Maybe ESPN will unveil a new "Tebow halftime speech"...the anticipation is killing me!

Here is the updated schedule for college gameday:

Segment 1: Herbstreit describes the underwear Tebow will wear for the game. He will also unvail his "why Oklahoma is still better than Texas, even though it's been forever since they actually beat them."

Segment 2: Desmond Howard visits with Urban Meyer and discusses how he is the greatest coach that ever lived.

Segemnt 3: Fowler gives us an update on some ridiculous tennis match that no one could ever care about.

Segment 4: Herbstreit blames Lane Kiffin for WW1 & 2, communism as a whole, and 9/11. We also bring in Pat Forde to explain that since Lane Kiffin took all of 15 minutes to get his offense going, he sucks and should quit and never coach again.

Also, he will begin to come up with excuses as to why OSU lost to USC again, and that it doesn't matter, winning the Big 11 means an automatic trip to the NC.

they will be there and replaying kiffin saying urban cheated all day long and Lee will put on the gator head. its gonna get uGLY but Lane hopefully can make sure we can handle it

I do think it could be a tough day to be a Vols fan, not because of the game itself, but because coverage of the whole day is so predictable.

The half hour before the game:

First 20 minutes: Lane Kiffin, has he bitten off more than he can chew? What were they thinking when they hired him? What was he thinking when he said these things? UF fired up to teach him a lesson.

Next ten minutes: But maybe Kiffin is on to something. He has had some success. Recruiting much improved. Could this be the answer to the Gators?

Game, big Florida win, rough day for Vols.

Next 3 hours: Boy, that was a beat down! Kiffin's big mouth caused it!

If Florida does win as expected and by a wide margin, UT fans need to be prepared for some very negative media remarks, particularly about Kiffin.

You have a point, if it gets out of hand, he can't blame anyone but himself.

Well, I am by no means his biggest fan, but I would say that ESPN will tout Kiffin as 90 % responsible, whereas in reality maybe its about 9 %.

At the end of the day, if the game goes as expected, it will be because Florida lives up to the hype and its just the way it is.

Why would Kiffin's mouth be to blame for a lop-sided loss to the Gators?

Was Kiffin running his mouth about Florida in 2007? 2008?

I think so because the UT-UF game is almost always on CBS & they have done Gameday for this matchup before. But I don't know for sure :dunno:

yeah but they haven't done that since the 90s. I'm not an expert on the subject, but ESPN/ABC seems to have become a bit more strict with their television contracts since then...

All That said, I'd like to see them there, but yeah I doubt it for a 3:30 game on CBS

See immediately above yours.

I'm not agreeing that he would be to blame -- just saying that will be the story on ESPN.

I think he means the media's been holding it all back for when/if this scenario happens.

But we all know how it goes. If the tables were turned, and UT just came off of a NC season and an unproven coach at our rival school called us out like that, these boards would be on fire.

For sure, the Kiffin comments will be aired and discussed ad nauseum next week (wow, next week is florida week!!... sorry, just hit me). And I have to agree with law, the story, if the Vols get beat bad, will be how Kiffin's comments instigated the beating.

Its a perfectly gift-wrapped story for all the hard working, investigative journalists out there.

It's incredibly easy to make him the goat.

And I can predict the reaction here, as well.

If Florida wins by a wide margin and its ugly, Vols fans will mostly back Kiffin up. They'll say, well, Florida was just better, we knew that coming into it, its not Kiffin's fault, he at least has us geting talked about. That sort of thing, all of whcih is true.

But if by the end of the season UT is in the 7-5, 6-6 region, you'll see a wave of resentment within the Vol fan ranks. And if he were to get beat by UF next year? Revolt.

He wouldn't be... but that would be the easy lazy story, and the one most of the traditional football fans want to hear.

Don't think I agree with that. I think most Vols want to see a motivated, well-coached, well-prepared team that executes and brings on the fight for 60 minutes. If that happens, we will finish better than .500 and Lane will satisfy the fanbase except for the few remaining fulmer supporters and the irrational minority who expect the impossible.

At this point, I think that 7-5 is the low end of what we accomplish, unless we get decimated by injuries on the lines. Frankly, if we play smart football and execute like we did last weekend (i.e. the things that WE can control like false starts, delay of games, few missed assignments), we'll beat everyone we should and possibly a team we shouldn't (georgia or ole miss would be the most likely candidates).

So far, Kiffin has been an A+ for this program, and there is a solid foundation. If we get our heads kicked in at florida, most will shrug it off, I mean we have the past 2 years right?
