What's the proper way to retire a Tennessee House flag and should it differ depending on the seasons it was flown?

Excellent question!!!

Flags from years with 7 or fewer wins should be cut into shreds, doused in urine, dried, and then burned.

Flags from years of 8 or more wins should just be burned.

I've always been told to burn "old glory" when she gets torn up, but we were taught to bury the Texas flag inorder to return a part of Texas back to her native soil.

No, which is why I'm going to enjoy it while I can!

Go talk to UT fans who might have held their tongues in 1998 and ask 'em how they felt about that in 2005.

I say go for it . Enjoy it for all it's worth. you know as well as i that things change. don't blame you a bit,. the honnoring of yourself will soon come to an end.

I always take my flags down after the season, & pin them up over my windows(like a blind) in my garage for decoration. I try to get a different UT flag every year. Just an idea, TIFWIW.

Well it's funny that we burn the US Flag out of respect,(of course the correct way) and we are wondering about how best to lay down a flag of our State ? I say write the year on it and either save it or burn it after the first win of the next season........
