For those of you who are thinking about boycotting or not showing up for the remaining games in protest to Butch, think of it this way:
The university is going to need money to be able to buy out Butch's contract and get a quality coach! So go to the Georgia game this weekend and buy a shirt for the checkered section you're siting in! :) :good!:

If you truly support the Vols coach aside, then you will be at this game if you have tickets to the game that is.

Do fans only pull for the VOLS if things are going good? A true fan is there no matter what. GO VOLS BEAT THE dawgs.

They think they are pulling for the VOLS by trying to compartmentalize between coaching and the kids, but all the negativity hurts the team. I guarantee this team would do better on the field with more support. Our fans are like bad bosses that you just don't want to work for anymore . The attitudes on this board are embarrassing

The players need our support to play their best game. Also think about this, the better our players the look, the more likely a quality coach is going to want to come here!

This game is going to sell out no matter what...would you rather have the seats filled by UGA fans or UT fans??

Everyone saw how they brought 40k to Nortre Dame...they hype is real in Georgia and they will travel for this one. Highly doubt the checkered stadium will work out as well as it has in the past..

Either way. Fans need to go and need to be loud and SUPPORTIVE until the final whistle..All you negavols can stay at home!

I don't know if I should agree or disagree with your statement. To buy out CBJ's contract, boycotting a game. This is no better than kneeling to the National Anthem. Do some of the real fans a favor, stay home and sell your tickets or donate to someone who would like to attend and see the Orange and White play. I think if General Neyland was alive, he would be disgusted with everyone's behavior. Being a Fan is not a right, its a privilege.........it you don't like the coaches........stay home. I am sure CBJ won't miss you.

CBJ obviously loves this university and team and has given extraordinary effort to restore TN football. Some of the disrespect thru these threads is staggering. After watching his latest statements, he is exactly right. The negativity is abundant and fabricated. This fan base is going to regret running CBJ off. Just wait and see.

the emotional reactions are a over the top. no disagreement. lots of piling on, and some misinformation out there. personally i don't have an issue with what he said, and kind of agree with it.

you just can't say it the way he did.

as for it being fabricated, i'll just say this, i've not been shy of my criticism of Butch's game management, nor his post game whiffs. he HAS had them.

i've also tried to call BS when some of his comments are just chewed up and spit out for the twitter and blogosphere out there.

but the reality is this, and this is the reason that anyone critical of CBJ's antics has the right to be....he should, at this point, be more aware of himself, how he's perceived , and that at a program like TN, when you lose games the way we do, to the teams we do, this is the territory you get to live in until you've built the equity necessary to ward off the internet vultures that's sole purpose is to make a living by using the hot takes you keep giving them.

if i were his PR guy, i'd be telling him to bring some levity to the situation...acknowledge the criticism, and throw in some self-deprecating humor. my opening line today would have been something along the lines of "so, what do you guys want to talk about today? y'all see that KY game?" or something like that. but that's not him, and in year 5, you can't just change your spots on a dime and it not be considered "phony".

so...he is what he is. and it's not changing, personality or coaching style, any time soon. UT just has decide at some point is that going to be good enough....before it's decided for them by a stadium half full of gators and elephants.

Here is the thing, if it were just us fans who were bashing Butch and being bringing up negativity, then thats one thing. But virtually all sports media is bashing and mocking him. And whether you like it or not, it's completely justified.

The only way we will regret running Butch off is if Currie makes the same mistakes the last two brain dead idiots made.

It is not justified at all. The sports media is a joke, a complete joke. It is all about the drama for them. It is not even about football.

I will stay at home, and sell my ticket to the nearest Bulldog for top dollar! If we're gonna blow, I might as well make some dough!
