Tennessee early favorite over Georgia Tech

Vols win comfortably. GT is breaking in a new center and QB. Probably more growing pains for those positions running that offense than other more traditional offenses.

The trick is the amount of time our defense spends on preparing for GT offense rather than our real defense.

If we don't spend enough time that's bad, but every rep we over prepare is wasted.

We need to run a base defense and have our offense out score them.

To be fair, Tech rotates centers frequently since that position in the wishbone is arguably the most brutal of all in CFB. I haven't studied their roster or anything but we have a good chance of seeing one or two other centers with experience. It'll be close for a while but eventually they will wear out.

All of those lines will move around like crazy before most of the public sees them.

Does anyone on VN have any of these in their book?

Tenn will be -6.5 or -7 by the time it hits the online books

Of course we face a team that injures DL on game one when that's our least deep position 🙄

Its not like cut blocking is something new and isn't used by teams that don't run option. The technique for defeating cut blocking is pretty simple. See links below. The real test Tech presents is you have to play assignment football and you can't do what everyone wants to do and gets to do every other Saturday which is get up field and chase the football. I never played at the college level but did have to prepare for option teams in HS and staying with your assignment (could be the pitch man) after you see the QB running with the ball is counter intuitive and goes against all your instincts as a defender. All your football life its been find the ball tackle the ball. But if you play that way against option teams like Tech you'll get gashed.

I can not believe no one gave you props for that comment. You are 100% correct. I think this game is going to be very advantageous for us, simply because of the opportunity to instill toughness and discipline in our defense.

They have to be mature enough to get their eyes on their keys and not on the ball. Usually, you will have linebackers keying Guards simply because in this offense it usually will lead you to the ball. I am really excited for this game; number one, you will have a a team running a flexbone offense. Secondly, you will have a offense that will challenge your mental toughness/ maturity and discipline. LOVE IT!

With Chavis not our DC we may have a chance. Well, they don't have the studs Nebraska had those two years either!

Our offense will tcb and hopefully our DTs will learn how to jump over those chops and our des can set the edge. I see a 14-17 point win.

Didn't want this game scheduled for pretty much the same reasons. That being said, I don't recall Clemson,FSU or Louisville fielding walk-on DLs after the GT contest. Shoop has film and we have to be able to play anybody.

I would love to say that we will take care of GT. But honestly, I think we lose. I see our defense getting absolutely gashed and GT putting up 350+ rushing yards.

One thing we can always count on is yourself and onevol74 hurrying on here with some bs takes. Do you ever entertain a positive thought??
