Tennessee current publicity (NFL)

so, all the press tim tebow got this past season was good for florida?

Yea cause Florida has year round warm weather a beach and is rich in HS football talent. They need all the publicity they can get. Tebows press is just proving he is a mediocre QB at best.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but I know we must have thought it. I believe it would be great if Payton came home to Tennessee and was the Titans-QB. So many story lines would pop up, it would be ridiculous. Picture Manning(QB), WR's: Kenny Britt, Reggie Wayne, Damian Williams, Pierre Garcon or Nate Washington, TE's: Jared Cook & Craig Stevens, OL: is solid and bring in Jeff Saturday at Center(for Payton's comfort), RB: CJ2K(enough said). The offense would be sick and who better to raise up young Jake Locker. Just a few adjustments on D-Fense and Boom!!! Holla if yah hear me!!! Also, he would be a major impact on UT's recruiting trail, just by coming back home. Slogan: "UT a place to call Home!!!"

With all the talk about Arian Foster, Peyton Manning and soon to come: Robert Meacham....this has to be good for TN recruiting and public relations.

Their professionalism in the face of the public is very positive energy that transcends right to our program...IMHO.

ie...even last night when LeBron was winging his arms to quiet the crowd, a reference to Peyton Manning doing that at TENNESSEE was mentioned on SC.

Me likey!

LOL: Weren't all those recruited by Fulmer, the guy TN told to hit the door and don't come back.

ESPN radio said that the two biggest free agents in the history of the NFL are Peyton and The Minister of D...thought they were going to mention UT but of course didn't

I'm pretty sure anyone from the state of TN would be elated if this happens, and just think how many former Colts fans would actually cheer for their in-state NFL team...since 96.6% of Colts fans in TN are actually just Peyton fans

I think Peyton ends up in Miami but Chris Mortensen said if the Titans show interest, Peyton would give them serious consideration.

gators sux, we have all already agreed to that.

And poor little Brandon...eating his supper thru a straw tonite.

Def lots of air time for the Vols, but do people outside of UT fans actually associate these players with UT?

Manning is definitely associated with UT. THe others, maybe not so much. However, never hurts to have your school mentioned in the same breath as NFL superstars.

Peyton was responsible for a lot of players coming in the 90's and probably into the early 2000's. Arian is responsible for none really. He was here for the decline and end of the bowl streak, the Vandy streak etc. It is good to have former Vols in the news in a positive light. It can give recruiters something exemplory to recruits when mentioning our tradition and ability to get people paid at the next level.

Yes. This.

The recruits' next question would be "Which of these guys did you coach?"

If you have any doubts whatsoever on this topic, read the book 'Meat Market'. Ole Miss held up Patrick Willis to the visiting high school guys as the poster boy for all great things that could happen to them if they would only become an Ole Miss Rebel.

To argue otherwise, really shows just how clueless these gator trolls really are. It is not a surprise that none of them have a job.

Meat Market focused on Ed Orgeron. Ed Orgeron actually coached Patrick Willis. Ed Orgeron using Patrick Willis as an example is not the same as Derek Dooley using Peyton Manning as an example. Orgeron can claim to have gotten Willis into the NFL; Dooley cannot say the same about Manning.

ha ha ha...you are attempting to completely change the topic. Read the title thread again. 'Tennessee current publicity'. Whether Derek Dooley is the coach or not, Peyton Manning will continue to be a good steward for Tennessee. Everytime they exit the field, they see this sign.

Did you know they have a rammer jammer chat board? Why don't you move along over there? Hang out with friends. I am tired of correcting everything that you type.

Trolls....

...so y'all would NOT agree that Michael
Jordon's NBA career and influence during that time in his career had ANY kind of influence on the University of North Carolina image/recruiting or still does?

Anyone else see what's wrong with this analogy ?

I've said it many times in this thread, and you've yet to respond to it, but I'll give it another go:

Former players in the NFL help recruiting for the coaches who got them there, not the school.

You just brought up "Meat Market", which is an example of exactly what I've been saying, and you casually ignored the fact that Orgeron was pointing to a player he coached.

See any difference between the two pitches?:

Orgeron: I helped turn Patrick Willis into a monster. I saw his potential and coached him up to the point that he's one of the best linebackers in the NFL. We spent 4 years making him one of the elite players at his position. I can do that with you. (admittedly, with Orgeron, that would be difficult to understand)

Dooley: Peyton Manning played at Tennessee in the mid-90s, and now he's one of the best QBs in NFL history. Now, I was practicing law for most of Manning's tenure in Knoxville, but I did watch some of his games on TV, and I'm pretty sure I can do that with you.

When you were recruited, is that what you asked?

I've interviewed more than 300 current and former college football players. I'm by no means the definitive source on the matter, but I know of what I speak.
