Hamilton is the head of our athletic department(mens). In case you haven't noticed, it is a total mess! Basketball and Football are the two most important athletic programs and both face NCAA sanctions. Hamilton brought in Kiffen who practically begged the NCAA to come investigate us and that is how this all began. Someone must take responsiblity for this mess. Hamilton is in charge, so it has to be him. That is the only reason you need to fire Mike Hamilton. It has absolutely nothing to do with firing bruce.

The NCAA was investigating Pearl's stuff before Phillip Fulmer was even fired. The stuff that has come to light happened afterwards, but they were already sniffing around.

I would say hire a basketball coach as soon as possible, see if he can talk Hopson and Harris into staying and to see if we can keep Jones and Ware to their LOI. Let Hamilton continue as the AD with a watchful eye from the higher powers. If all is going well, at a time later next year, create a fundraiser's position for Hamilton and hire a new AD at that point. A little smoother transition without as much of the bad publicity.

I have no idea who we play, but I personally guarantee we'll win more than 5 games next year.

Some of you guys are ridiculous.

In my opinion, Hamilton will stay. Tennessee's athletic department has the greatest profit margin among all ncaa programs. Hamilton had no clue Kiffin would do what he did and bolt for USC, and also could not have forseen the Pearl debacle. IMHO he has been dealt a fairly crappy hand during his tenure. Lets see how the Dooley hire and the impending basketball coaching hire turns out before Hammy is let go.

Personally, I would keep the interim coach, wait until the formal punishment is forthcoming from the NCAA, then fire Hamilton, hire a new AD and let him find the best coach possible.......This might be a transition coach like Don Devoe was when Florida got rid of Norm Sloan.

Personally, that sounds like a terrible idea.

A 5 win season? :eek:lol: :eek:lol:

Get outta here clown

That's easy to justify, Hammy is going to give a pep speech before each game, like he did before the Michigan game, of course he'll have to have a teleprompter and don't forget he's been banned from the locker room because he's too motivating.:eek:hmy:

so he screwed up by hiring Bruce? Because if he hadn't hired Pearl we may not be in this NCAA mess with our basketball team
No, he screwed up firing Pearl. The way he handled it and drug it out, along with the news conference before the tourney game, was an absolute travesty. He(Pearl) should have been fired before the season started.

Two things: 1) Why tell Harris and Hopson to stay if it's good for them to go to the NBA? If that's not the best thing for them, tell them the truth and let them make the decision. 2) If all is going well, doesn't that mean MH made the right hire? Then can him and make him raise money after being canned?
