With a lame duck AD and facing potentially devastating NCAA punishment, the administration faces a dilemma; 1) Do they hire a new HC now and fire Hamy later? (Then the new hire may not have the backing of the new AD) or 2) do they fire Hamy now and let the new AD hire his own man?(Then they don't have the involved AD to go to the Indianapolis to face down the NCAA????

Personally, I would keep the interim coach, wait until the formal punishment is forthcoming from the NCAA, then fire Hamilton, hire a new AD and let him find the best coach possible.......This might be a transition coach like Don Devoe was when Florida got rid of Norm Sloan.

Regardless, expect a five win season for 2011-12. Hopefully, we get a postseason ban for next year.

Nothing to see here. Just trolling.

What exactly are your arguments for firing Hamilton?

He fired Pearl--about the only explanation folks can give. It's interesting that many folks blame Hamilton for Pearl's lack of integrity and want him fired, but wanted to keep Pearl. Perfect logic.

Well there is a little more than that, but Hamilton needs to stay for now. However, one could argue that Hamilton has caused more embarrassment to the University when it comes to what the media says then Lane Kiffin.

Has hamilton done things that make me scratch my head? Sure...but I really dont see a compelling argument to fire him at this point.

Are you talking specifically about how he handled this recent mess or other things?

Hamilton is the head of our athletic department(mens). In case you haven't noticed, it is a total mess! Basketball and Football are the two most important athletic programs and both face NCAA sanctions. Hamilton brought in Kiffen who practically begged the NCAA to come investigate us and that is how this all began. Someone must take responsiblity for this mess. Hamilton is in charge, so it has to be him. That is the only reason you need to fire Mike Hamilton. It has absolutely nothing to do with firing bruce.

so he screwed up by hiring Bruce? Because if he hadn't hired Pearl we may not be in this NCAA mess with our basketball team

Rocky has asked the $64 question. MH's overall record of bungling and ineptitude has earned him a pnk slip. But if he's canned now, it will take months to hire a new AD and a coach. UT needs a new coach ASAP who can at least pitch Tobias Harris before he declares for the NBA draft, not to mention Jones and Ware.

The only thing positive I can say about the OP is that his strategy would probably assure the 5 win season he predicts.

Not sure that would be my objective.

From what I saw this last week Im not sure how much he is really in charge. But by your logic, Mike has a boss too so shouldnt he be fired?

Just a combination of it all. The only thing he did wrong in this mess was going public before our team played. He supported Bruce, and Bruce could/would not play by the rules after that support was given. If you bash Hamilton or Cheeks over that, then you are brain dead. It just feels like the perception people have of our program is that we have a very weak AD. You see power schools such as Florida have Foley, who demand respect and get their way. Then you have UT who has a guy that is still employed mainly because of fundraising. The money, the facilities, etc.. are nice but an AD needs to have coaches in place that win and don't embarrass your program.

No people blame Hamilton for the allegations for our Football, Basketball, and Baseball programs. Not only do you hire Lane Kiffin, and there clearly was a lack of control, and that starts from the top down.

When Pearl cheated on his wife, he clearly lacked integrity, that is not on Hamilton.

This thread is not worth commenting on as the presumptions of the OP in the partial first sentence are in error before the questions are asked.

Try going with what you know to be true before offering what you think or hope may be true.
