You are FAR wrong about the UCLA job.

Yea with each school playing 6-7 million a year.... and you have your choice. Why would anyone want to go live in Southern California and not have as much pressure at Tennessee or Texas A&M....

I shouldn't have to explain the bigger picture to you guys.

It's not as simple as you guys make it out & some of you don't understand smart business decisions. And make no mistake..... it's a business

And I don't think the other 3 have fan bases that are under the delusion that Gruden is coming.... and making fools of the fan base.

Rank the openings without Tennessee orange colored glasses right now. Keep in mind how shallow Tennessee is everywhere but running back and has 4 offensive linemen healthy

Florida
UCLA
Texas A&M
Tennessee
You are clueless, aren’t you?
Rank them? For who?
It’s all about the right fit. UT could be #1 for one potential coach and #6 for another,
And what coach would even think about how many healthy OL we have right now, idiotic!

I agree to the both above me. Tennessee recruiting base is getting better. However it's not better than Florida, Texas, or California.

Tennessee's base is better with the Nashville growth.

But it's still light years behind Florida, Texas & California

And all 3 schools have better players on their rosters top to bottom than Tennessee does right now....

Butch ran a lot of good players off. Tennessee is very shallow

I would say that Tennessee is about even with Florida (there certainly isn't any big difference) and a little better than UCLA. But so what? Things change quickly in college football.

Ok businessman tell the board what a coach would have to make in a California job vs Tennessee to get paid the same amount.

I think that Currie has already signed his man, just waiting for the correct timing. The rest of this is just a smoke screen.

You are now way a UT fan , every post you have put on this site disparaging the Vols. Mods please investigate and ban this guy if needs be. No UT fan in their right mind wants a 63 yo has been , who hasn't been able to get a job for years to jump start a program.

Watch much football, or know anything about coaches. Your so called has been has been out of coaching barely a year. If you know nothing of his about when he last coached, you certainly know nothing of his record.

You guys do realize Tennessee has sucked for 15 years right?

Tennessee job could not even be in the top 5
Of openings come Monday.

Sumlin is getting fired and the Texas A&M job is a better job than Tennessee right now. Yea Texas A&M is in the west but they have $$$$, Texas recruiting base, great players, and a offensive line.

You clearly haven't watched any A&M games this year. Our offensive line sucks. They haven't been any good since 2012 when all 5 players that started ended up in the NFL.

Do list all the other schools clamoring for his services

And ask any lsu fan if the last few years if he did any coaching.

Ok both Schools will pay 6-7 million a year for a head coach.

In Tennessee 6-7 million a year goes further than 6-7 million a year goes in Southern California. I'll give you that. However a couple of things.

1. We are still talking 6-7 million a year to coach football.

2. The $$$ you make off endorsements in an area as densely populated as Southern California pays so much better.

So your cost of living is higher in Southern California. However your earning potential is higher than your cost of living difference.

Need me to explain how to get a woman too?

Nice snarky comment , people do this when they have been caught up in a conversation they are not well versed in ...

Yet You still didn't answer the question , how much more would someone have to make in cali vs Tennessee to be the Same amount???? And as far as endorsements wow do you realize where ucla football ranks in LA ? Hell they are not even the favorite cfb team in their geographical footprint.

It would depend on the level of expense they would want.

Too many individual preference choices there to give you an exact number. Your looking roughly at neededing a 10-15% cost of living difference. Completely dependent on the lifestyle choice of the coach and his family.

However like I said with endorsements in such a populated area vs East Tennessee. Endorsements would pay close to triple in Southern California vs East Tennessee mountains

So your talking way more bottom line money, better weather, and a easier path to wins in Southern California.

$6MM in Knoxville Metro will equal about $3.4MM in LA Metro. Considering that Westwood is in a nicer area of LA (close to B.Hills), its even lower.

In addition, CA has a income tax rate of 13.3% compared to 0% in TN. Once taxes are factored in, your money goes twice as far in Knoxville.

Being condescending doesn’t help your case.
