Tennessee Coaches Kicked out of Pahokee High..

A principal decides to "kick out" recruiters from one of the top universities in the south??? Brilliant---great for his players' college opportunities!!!

He doesn't have to try and become the biggest A-hole in the conference. Let Spurrier keep that title. Let's win some games first.

You think it "worked" on Nu'keese? I think the kid realized that he would be second fiddle to a better recruit, Andre Debose.

There was no/is no pipeline from Pahokee to UF. One player in 30 years (Janoris Jenkins '08). Nu'keese shouldn't become the only player we get because our coaches piss people off. That's stupid.

Kiffin isn't an SEC guy. Coming in, he probably didn't know recruiting south Florida from South America. But I can't imagine that he was just making that stuff about Pahokee and the fax machine up out of thin air; clearly somebody there earned a reputation for some kind of shenanigans at some point, and Kiffin heard about it. Maybe it was something Orgeron knew about from his days at Miami; who knows. But all the Pahokee principal has done by refusing UT coaches admittance is to make it look like Kiffin was dead right about them. You think UT's coaches aren't cackling to every recruit in Florida right now about how the Gator principal in Pahokee wouldn't even let Tennessee coaches in the door?

I am inclined to think that this is the Pahokee coach showing his true colors....but I am nagged a bit by comments that UF has not recruited well from there in the past. If not UF, is the coach in someone else's pocket? If not, is he a new coach that is in Urban's pocket? Or...were those points just BS? Anyone have any data that might shed light on it?

I can tell you that the 2nd year head coach is not a Gator fan personally, but he wants his kids to do well and go wherever they'll prosper. He's not on anyone's payroll, nor is anyone on that staff. Those guys were high school classmates of mine.

It's as simple as this: you can't come in from the Left Coast, act like you laid the golden egg, insult the coach, school and town to the national press and then expect the red carpet. That's exactly why small town people are skeptical of slick talkers. It's that simple. It's also why Bobby Bowden is King of the Living Room.

I hope Kiffin learns a lesson from this. I think it is perfectly within their rights what they are doing. A head coach of a major school should never speak disparagingly about a HS or the coaches/administration. The fact that the school is loaded with even more prospects this year than last is a major "D'oh" moment for Kiffin. And the thing is, when Kiffin and Blaze Thompson spoke, he made it clear that Kiffin should issue a public apology to the school and the administration and it was never done.

Like I said, I hope he learns from this and thinks before he speaks from now on.

Kiffin should take the invitation to talk to the community.

It's an awesome opportunity. What other UT coach has been invited to speak to a Florida community?

It's an open forum for communication with parents and others. If the NCAA is okay with it, our coaches could plan a South Florida tour to hold meetings with different communities (just in case they were offended). How good are O's Latin dance moves?

anyone want to take bets on how many kids we sign out of Pahokee this year? I'm saying we get at least two?

It's funny. For so many Coaches to publically state they have no fears of Kiffin on the field this year, they're scared to DEATH of our recruiting. Eventually, we'll have the talent, then they'll be singing a different, humble tune.

I agree that Kiffin should go to the community meeting and clear the air...It certainly couldn't hurt....There is a lot of talent in that little town that the VOLS could use...Nothing like having a pipeline to south florida talent.

The principal should apologize to UT for kicking out coaches. UT will not recruit there if not wanted.

Kiffin lied about the fine town of Pahokee and heres the proof!

Pahokee - Google Maps

If you click on the street view link, you can obviously see a van pulled in filling up at that WORKING gas station. Kiffin should be ashamed!

Absolutely. You're there, so you know it's not Gator country and with the Canes down, those kids could use a new destination team. Why not UT?

This principle is a big Baby! Meyer probably told him to kick Gran out. But we have to suck it up and apologize because there are simply too many blue chippers year in and year out at Pahokee

Actually if I were Kiffin I would go directly to the school board and tell them the story and demand an apology from the principal on the basis of discrimination..If the school allows other coaches from other schools to visit and not UT then that's discrimination I believe....Any lawyers in the house to confirm that?..lol...Just doesn't seem right...I still support Kiffin going to the community meeting and clearing the air but I don't see that happening....I would almost drive up that way to see that myself if it were to happen...Only about 50-60 miles away

Good luck with that.

How about flying the UT plane over Pahokee and dropping propaganda leaflets to the students letting their players know that the Vols want their services and to not be misled into believing otherwise by their communist ruler?

I'm guessing the Palm Beach newspaper couldn't get through as it published Kiffin's apology over a month ago.

Tennessee's Lane Kiffin apologizes for Glades remarks

If I offended anybody in Pahokee or has to do with Pahokee or in the schools, I apologize and I want to make sure it's understood that is not what was meant by it at all. It was just an energetic breakfast with some of our donors. Didn't even know that there was a camera present when the things were said.

He even manned up and used the words, "I apologize." Is this principal a woman? Not that women have a tendency to act this way or anything, but I'm just wondering. Would a dozen roses help?

Publicity stunt involving low flying aircraft ...

Didn't I read somewhere that's a no-no?

VolinMiami, if you have the time, it would be nice to know if this principal also likes to post pictures of Kiffin in their locker rooms. It could be a Gator thing.

I thought Kiffin had apologized? This story pisses me off mainly because the media tends to leave out the fact the principal is a gators fan. There is not a person in the world that can convince me that doesn't have anything to do with it. Heck, if I was a principal and a UT fan and Urban Meyer (or any other coach from a rival school) came to visit one of my students I would have not been excited either.

This almost has to be an NCAA violation. The guy using his official powers to steer kids away from UT.... wait, wasn't that the accusation that he's expecting an apology for?
