I've posted sporadically here over the past 10 months or so. I moved to Knoxville in 2001 to finish up school at UT - transfer from a Florida school
. Over the last few years I've become a Vol fan, although I haven't followed recruiting, etc... until this year.
I had the privilege of attending this game on Saturday. It was my third, second in Neyland. The other two were a Southern Miss game several years ago, and the GA game in Athens back in 2006, which, as you all know, was another :boxing2: in our favor.
This game and the atmosphere at Neyland was amazing. My friend has season tickets that he shares with another friend who couldn't make it up from Chattanooga for the game. They're lower level, underneath the jumbotron and to the left of the goal post/opposing team tunnel. There were times when I, my friend, and the cat next to me were the only ones yelling, but that was only when the wind was kind of gone from the sails (mostly right after the kickoff return and the interception return).
But overall, WOW. And the team huddle after the 51 yd TD was just sick. That, and the crowd going nuts after Berry's "fumble recovery" were my two highlights. The Circle Drill was the icing on the cake. It's like, "Not only did our football team school yours, but our marching band did too."
On a side note, there were two GA fans sitting behind us who were enduring all kinds of barking, taunting, etc... and were really pretty gracious people. Unlike the GA frat tools who were yelling at us from their porch in '06 as we walked by after embarassing them between the hedges.
Needless to say, I've pointed out several times to my friend that, not only are he and I 2-0 vs GA, but apparently the team does much better when I go to the games as opposed to the other ticket holder.
Kudos to Kiffin and Co, Crompton, the wideouts, the D... well, the entire team. Now that Crompton has realized his potential, if he and the team can focus during this time, they work on ST (A LOT), and stay healthy, we should be able to give Saban all he can handle.
