Tennessee can win the SEC East in 2018

The SEC East teams who believe the narrative that Georgia is losing "31 Scholarship Seniors", are going to be disappointed in 2018.

Here is a look at 17 of the 31.
OL Dyshon Sims - 2nd string offensive lineman.
OL Aulden Bynum - 2nd string offensive lineman
***Both have been recruited over and neither would play in 2018.

Brice Ramsey - 3rd string QB that never played a snap at QB in 2017.

WALKONS/SCOUT TEAM PLAYERS THAT NEVER PLAYED IN A GAME IN 2017. Most have never played a snap ever.

Tim Hill – walk on CB
Daniel Harper – walk on OLB
Jacob Gross – walk on FB
John Courson – backup long snapper
Alex Essex – DL
Matthew Herzwurm – backup long snapper
Trent Frix – long snapper
Thomas Swilley – walk on OL
Carson Hall – walk on OL
Jordan Davis - 5th string TE
Miles McGinty – walk on TE
David Martin – backup kicker
Lucas Stone – walk on TE
Avery McNeely - walk on DB
slow your roll sir.. in that list I see the magic info we all savor.. looks like UGA is losing all its depth at long snapper and most of their scout team. this is the kind of epic info we needed. Knowing this, I change my mind and now thing UGA has no chance against us.

The talent in the front seven and the skills position is there. Hell a healthy offensive line and better coaching should lead to better results. QB and secondary are really sketchy.

We can’t beat UGA next year. Their talent level and depth is above us. Everyone else in the East doesn’t scare me. Florida has a lot of issues. UT still has more talent (when healthy) than Vandy, South Carolina, and Kentucky. Missouri now has Dooley calling plays. I could see (if healthy and a competent QB) 8-4 which could mean 2nd in the East.

Isnt John Kelly going pro?

Prognostication is fun. And on paper we should finish no better than 3rd in the East next year. But I ask you, who saw Mizzou winning the East over loaded GA, FL, and USCe teams in 2013 and 2014? No one! My point is we could go 10-2 and win the East. We could also go 5-7. Which would be disappointing, put probably where many prognosticators will pick us--somewhere between 7-5 and 5-7.

I don't think were as horrible as we played last season, but were not winning the SEC or even the East. I think if we get to eight wins will be a magnificent coaching job.

I'll be that guy. Somewhere between 7-5 and 5-7 is exactly 6-6.

5 loses. Alabama Auburn Florida Georgia & West Virginia. 7 wins. Vandy Missouri Kentucky UTEP Charlotte ETSU & South Carolina. Add in a bowl win also
I will miss ALL of the season. I will be in Poland the entire season.

I prognosticate that the prognosticators will cluster around 5-7, but will have a difficult time coming up with a consensus for the five wins.

"And lets remember he was not their first choice so the fan base will turn on him quickly if things don't start great"

.....What choice was Pruitt for UT? 5th....6th?

How is it remotely possible to predict a bowl win? Who will we be playing?

Have fun in Poland

He was Fulmers top 3. Fulmer is already a legend on the hill and this hire will take his legacy even further. We hired an outstanding coach that will bring multiple NC’s to the hill. We will win a NC within 4 years of the Pruitt era.

So your first thought is going to be to call me an idiot, so let me clarify. I am not saying UT "will" win the east, and I'm not even saying there is a great probability that they will. I am saying they "can" win the east. Lets break down the division by team:

- Florida: Tennessee broke the streak in 2016 and in 2017 1 play made the difference in possibly winning. 1 play where Florida committed multiple fouls that were not called. Let me re-state this; the WORST UT TEAM EVER could have beat florida last year if not for 1 play. Yes I know they have a new coach, but I don't expect Mullen to have the success in year 1 that he had at MSST after several years. And lets remember he was not their first choice so the fan base will turn on him quickly if things don't start great. The type of player that chooses UF (entitled) is not the same personality who chooses MSST (something to prove) and I don't think he has the personality to handle them.

- Georgia: When I look at Kirby Smart I see a coach like Phil Fulmer; a good coach who will succeed on how good a staff he has. Georgia was very lucky this year, they only had 1 starter injured (Eason) and had a very capable backup, and in that offense until the last game he really was a game manager. Their 2 graduating RB's carried the load. Auburn showed the blueprint to beat them, but we all know it's tough to beat the same team twice in a season. Georgia loses 31 seniors plus any juniors who go to the NFL. Yes they have a good class coming in but this could certainly be a rebuilding year for them. Georgia ran over the worst SEC East in history; I don't expect that will continue.

- South Carolina: I think Muschamp has learned a lot from his time at Florida, but the only reason he won over UT last year is because he had Butch's number. 15-9, does that really sound like a juggernaut? Tennessee still has more talent than SCAR, and they barely won last year. Beating SCAR gave Tennessee a resurgence a few years ago and can do so again in 2018.

- Mizzou: I don't really know what to make of Mizzou. If you look at talent they simply don't have the atheletes to hang with UT or Georgia or Florida. But they did last year beating UT and UF and hanging with UGA. Their players fit their mold much like GT has players that fit what they do even if they aren' 5 stars. Mizzou loses Heupel and his high powered offense and with the talent differential, UT should win this game most of the time.

- Kentucky: Once again UT should always out-talent the cats. I don't make much of Mark Stoops, he is a decent coach but I don't think he will out-scheme Pruitt. This is a game the players should be up for and I expect big things.

- Vandy: This may be the biggest shocker of all. Vandy and UT battled for worst in the East last year, and vandy looked head-and-shoulders above the Vols. Yes, there was an interim coach involved but the year prior Tennessee was embarrassed by vandy and you can't blame that on an interim. Injuries and this game being the end of the season have been contributors to the last 2 losses, but simply put, for Tennessee to get where they want to get they have to consistently win this game.

- BONUS - Auburn: Last time Gus got a big contract extension was after the 2013 BCS loss. HE followed that with a 8-5 season. He got a big contract after the bama win and proceeded to overlook your 2017 National Champion UCF Knights in the peach bowl. Auburn is certainly the more talented team right now but how motivated is Gus? He is fat and happy and would be easy to overlook UT.

Simply put, there is a path to success in 2018. The SEC East was bad last year and the West really wasn't all that much better. I'm not posting this to say I think Pruitt will be the 2nd coming of Neyland but I am saying I think this team is a better team than 4-8 and they have a chance to prove it.

UGA returns 13 starters.

Is experience the best teacher? SEC teams run the gamut in terms of returning starters

Should beat or be close on Missouri and Vandy, USC ,Florida, and Ky to flip it to 8-4 provided West Virgina doesnt go the other way.Lost 3 of those on the last possesion with a crap coaching staff and 3 of them are at home.Nothing crazy about that. Not winning the division with 4-4 or even 5-3 though...

I think Pruitt and Company will bring a different mentality to the team. That probably means several players will not buy-in to the new way and transfer, but I expect those that do will work hard. UT should be, at the very least, much more competitive even if it means close losses. Nobody should be a fan of moral victories, but in the grand scheme of things I believe it would be progress. I think year 2 will be a better measuring stick. 2 recruiting classes, and 2 offseasons should show results. I think Pruitt will be a solid coach; just hoping he's given a little time to make something of it. I know the UT fan base is a bit gun shy with coaches these days.

No, Tennessee can’t and won’t win the East in 2018, not even fair to suggest otherwise. 2019 though, certainly 2020? Yes.

I am getting too old. I read this, and can't remember any of the pollock jokes we used to tell, save the picture of the polish peeping tom. You can google it.

I think our 2018 roster is less talented than our 2017. That’s very concerning. But if we stay healthier than 17, maybe we can win 7-8 games.

If not, it’ll get ugly.
