I just re-watched that classic game. Both sides, fighting, clawing, it reminded me of some WWI battle in the trenches movie. Where has that fighting spirit gone? Those boys were hungry for victory and it SHOWED.

I disagree, the vols were ranked #1 for the first time and sh!t the bed. Fulmer coached an Uber talented team into trying not to lose. They should have lost that game if not for stoerner fumble. Classic example of why we lost to Florida nearly every year when he was coach. Totally outcoached against good teams. Recall 2001 SEC championship against LSU. Saban outcoached him from the opening kickoff. There is a reason why he was fired and it was justified. Too bad we couldn’t replace him with a home run hire. I don’t regret him being fired and wouldn’t mind if he was fired tomorrow as AD. He is a VFL no doubt but so am I. Doesn’t mean I should be running the AD.

On a scale of 1 to 10, as a coach, Phillip Fulmer was between a 7.5 and an 8. As we have learned there were far worse possibilities. Basically we were playing black jack and sitting on 18 and we chose to hit, and boy did we bust. We were 152-52 with him and we're 72-72 since.
