Tennessee and the SEC

But do try and forget that we lost to a team of backups.

Why forget? We lost the championship game - plain and simple. The thread was written to deride UT football amongst our SEC peers even though we played in the championship game last season.

Arkansas played in the '06 title game. How are they doing in comparison to the rest of the league now?

We played in that game because Florida lost some games against foes we did not face. We took that golden opportunity and blew it. Winning the division would only mean something to me if all six members played the exact same conference schedule. The only thing it would really mean is that we were the best team in a tournament of 6 teams. Big freaking deal.

The thing that blows my mind is Vandy sitting at the top of the SEC East and we are on the bottom.......who would have ever friggin thought this........:banghead2:

What's the song the British troops played at Cornwallis' surrender at Yorktown? "The World Turned Upside Down". So appropo.

They have a maniacal fan base that is getting exactly what they deserve for running a good coach out of town.

And I honestly thought I made your ignore list that everyone's been talking about.

You are correct. The team that loses the fewest games plays in the championship.

Plain and simple. Since 2003 (the last 5 years is a good measuring stick)

Kentucky-Gotten better
Vanderbilt-Gotten a lot better
South Carolina-Improved a bit
Georgia-Gotten better
Florida-Gotten a lot better
Alabama-Gotten a lot better
LSU-Still bad ass
Auburn-Improved a bit, still have growing pains
Miss State-Better under SLY
Ole Miss-Better under Nutt
Arkansas-jury is still out for BP but not that good this year.
Tennessee-progressively worse

That is all that needs to be said about UT football and if Fulmer needs to go.

I disagree with some.
Ky has gotten better
Vanderbilt is 2nd most improved
South Carolina hasn't improved
Georgia has improved
Florida peaked, but now are sliding down a tad
Alabama is most improved
Lsu peaked, and is sliding down also (early top 5 ranking helped their cause, their just not as good as advertised thus far, they gave up alot of points to Auburn which is BAD)
Auburn sliding downhill, and fast. They aren't half the team they were with Caddy and Ronnie Brown.
Miss St. is getting better
Ole Miss is getting better
Arkansas peaked, horrible now
Tennessee has progressed SINCE the horrible season we all remember 2 years ago. This year could be worse, but it's not yet, so they went downhill, progressed, then we have to play the football games left to decide this years fate. Anything COULD still happen. Weather it happening, i doubt it, but you can't say they are worse this year then 2 years ago.

just my thoughts

Well, I also think Nutt saw the writing on the wall with both of his superstar running backs going pro. He made a move as much to avoid the down seasons that were about to occur, as he did to avoid the ridiculousness of the Arkansas fan base and administration. If they had a season like they are now with Petrino, he would no longer be employed at the end of this year.

Are people on here seriously trying to say that UGA has declined? Maybe they arent as good as they were 2 or 3 years ago but seriously, they are #10 in both polls. Only loss was to #2 Alabama by 11 points. UGA played terrible in the first half but played great in the second.

you mentioned 06 and 07 they almost beat UF and LSU. that is the point. when is almost good enough. I dont know what you do for a living but i doubt you settle for almost.

I didn't say 'almost' was good enough or that anyone wanted to settle for for 'almost.'

I did say we are far closer than those you who claim we are in total disarray with no hope, that's just silly.

But do try and forget that we lost to a team of backups.

We had injuries of our own as well.

Yep, a new hot shot coach is just what they needed to win the SECW again.

BTW, why don't you give it up hat, everyone in Volnation knows you are a sidewalk bammer fan who probably didn't even get your high school diploma.

BTW, your hot shot new coach managed to lost 4 to LSU, MSU, Lou Monroe and Auburn last year, if he hadn't managed to pull off a meager 6 pt win over a very bad Colorado team in your bowl, would you have fired him too?
