Plain and simple. Since 2003 (the last 5 years is a good measuring stick)

Kentucky-Gotten better
Vanderbilt-Gotten a lot better
South Carolina-Improved a bit
Georgia-Gotten better
Florida-Gotten a lot better
Alabama-Gotten a lot better
LSU-Still bad ass
Auburn-Improved a bit, still have growing pains
Miss State-Better under SLY
Ole Miss-Better under Nutt
Arkansas-jury is still out for BP but not that good this year.
Tennessee-progressively worse

That is all that needs to be said about UT football and if Fulmer needs to go.

How can you say Auburn has gotten better? Is it because they are starting a new offense with different schemes? HMM , sounds like somewhere else.

Not sure UGA has gotten better. They're probably about the same.

Or a little worse. That 2004 (or 5?) team was pretty darn good.

The probably are a little worse now than they were in 2003. They were pretty dang good from 2002-2005. 2006 and 2007 were by comparison not good. The jury is still out on 2008, but I'm not very impressed thus far.

yeah I would agree that georgia has gotten a little worse from five years ago.

I agree UGA has not gotten better.
They have been thrashed more since 03 than anytime before. They possibly do less with more than fulmer.

Heck, even lowly UK beat them in 2006.

Pretty good statement. Although they've won the sec twice this decade.

they won it in 02 when his toughest competition was Zoozk and Fulmer in the east. good for that program. Not to mention they did finish in a 3 way tie that year so they got the virtue of a tie breaker.

Did they win it in 05? Was that the other one. That was a little more legit. But they got blasted by West Virgina in the Sugar Bowl so they won then embarrased the entrie conference.

They barely lost to WV. They came out flat, probably because they had already declared the SEC Championship against LSU their bowl game. That's not an exaggeration. The UGA coaches and players actually said that. They played like zombies for 2 quarters and WV built a big lead. The second half was all UGA and if not for a fake punt, the Bulldogs win. I'm not saying it's excusable, but it wasn't like WV was a much better team or anything.

Regardless, the have more accomplishments in the same time frame. Preseason #1 or #2 this year. Tough loss at Alabama this year but was end of the year ranked top 5 last season and is in contention to win the SECE this year.

The thing that blows my mind is Vandy sitting at the top of the SEC East and we are on the bottom.......who would have ever friggin thought this........:banghead2:

True - 2 is 2 and 2 more than the vols.
But they have been really bad on many occasions.
Some fellow made a a couple excuses for them loosing to WV but they lost and they were down big at one point.

Then in 06 they got killed at home by UT, lost to vandy at home, and lost to uk. I think UF beat them pretty good too.
Then in 07 they got killed by UT again and got beat again by usc.
Then in 08 they get the hell beat out of them by bama at home.

To me they are just Tennessee with better talent.

Tennessee-progressively worse

I would be the first to admit, we are not where we want to be but look at a couple of games, in 2006 we were in a very good position to knock of eventual national champion Florida with a first down and a FG to win, we didn't even have to have a first down we were within range.

I wanted a pass to the TE in the middle of the field or even a couple of running plays but we went to WRs and didn't get it done. I hate losing as much as anyone and we didn't pull it off, I still say we were very close and not at the bottom of some deep abyss with no hope, that's just stupid.

Again in 2007, ever after early season adversity we were in good shape to knock off eventual NC LSU and probably should have, however when so-called fans claim we are no longer competitive they have no right to claim they are realists, to me they live in some fantasy world that will never happen.

I submit if they hadn't kept Ainge under a constant barrage of criticism for four years he just might have had more confidence and presence of mind in that game and we might have won.

To say we were out coached in either of those games is ludicrous.

We stink this year, no doubt about it.

But don't forget we played in the SECCG just last season.
