So Grizz, how many years of "history" will it take for UF to be acceptable in your eyes? Granted, UT has more "tradition/history" than UF but most all of it took place before 1970. Not all of it, but most of it. Not trying to disprect anybody here, but generally speaking, when folks are making the tradition/history arguement, they haven't had much "recent" success.
Count me out on that one. Bama holds a special place of hate in my heart.people are giving history lessons on here and yet some would put tennessee-florida over tennessee-bama as a rivalry.

It's not even close...Although some Gator fans would like to imagine it to be...Alabama is and always will be our biggest rival....Florida is just a hate filled rivalry that has its place but not near the aforementioned Bama rivalry...Maybe some of the younger VOL fans might think of UF as bigger but in the big scheme of things, Bama is historical and UF is a temporary pain in the rear...We'll take care of that problem shortly

lol florida has no football history before Spurrier. and fyi he is from Johnson city, tn. So tn started your so called flordia tradition. Do you research and see that tn is all tradition
I feel like it's one of the most underrated rivalries in the country. It really burns me to see rivalries like Cal-Stanford, Florida-Georgia, the Apple Cup, Clemson-USCjr, and other rivalries like the Egg Bowl on lists above UT-Bama simply because Bama has Auburn. I really believe that if it wasn't for Auburn being in-state, I wouldn't be stunned if Tennessee-Alabama was considered one of the best in the country.Did not read this thread, but Bama is a far bigger rivalry than Florida imo. Bammers hate us far more and I hate them far more. 40-50+ year old Bama fans even hate us more than Auburn. No UF fans hate us more than F$U or UGA.
It is a far better rivalry, the two top programs historically in the SEC.
Florida is like Buzz Lightyear and Bama is like Woody.
Well by your definition UF doesn't have any history before Spurrier (championships). But if that is your measure, how much history did UT have in 100 years of football before 1990? Five NC's in 100 years? UF has three in 15 years. And I'm sure that no out of state players have ever helped in defining UT's history/tradition (Travis Henry, Tee Martin, Peyton Manning, etc). My point is, when a team hasn't had recent success against an opponent, the only card they have to play is the history card. UGA is a great example of that.
