Tennessee a seven point underdog against West Virginia

It's way too early to be posting about the spread on this game...Even though I probably agree with it and would like to see UT only lose by 7, its May. Some players haven't even arrived on campus to be evaluated on what they can contribute to both teams yet.

You would like to see UT only lose by 7....

Why on Earth wouldn't you like to see UT win by 7 or more? Some fan you are....

Do you just watch every game hoping UT loses? 🙄🙄

If we only lose by 7 it will be a good day...Too much WVU offensive power and our defense is horrid.
There Defense is also horrid. I’m willing to bet on day and night improvement on our Oline with a healthy Chance Hall and Trey Smith back, plus all the depth we’ve added. If we can have 7min plus drives and put pressure on there QB, we could all be leaving Charlotte on cloud 9. Pruitt/Sherrer will have a great defensive scheme for there semi air raid attack and I really believe our talent is on par with there’s, now with a competent coach.

I’m going to be in WV during this game for work, should be awesome listening to the inbreds talk **** all week
They will burn the place down when Tennessee wins:rolleyes: Dana Holgorsen has better start packing his bags after the Tennessee-West Virginia game because he's already on a white hot hotseat and he will be toast;)

I never bet on anything I don't control, but if I did...take UT and the points. There's just something about Pruitt (and his staff) that tells me don't count them out against anyone. There's just enough talent on this roster, thin though it is in places, to make me think a healthy UT squad could go toe-to-toe with most of the teams on the schedule, including WVU.

I won't be surprised by a loss, or a win. But I would not bet against UT in this one.

Football season is back. Hope springs anew.

Go Vols.

This is about where I am at. There are a lot of mysteries in this game. They have a suspect defense and not a shred of film of what our offense might look like, aside from a spring scrimmage. Our kids played one of the hardest schedules in football last year. They won't be facing any size or speed that they aren't used to. Our staff also has plenty of time to scheme against their game film. This will be an intriguing matchup. Obviously there are more than enough question marks going against UT in this game, but we are undefeated right now so I'm optimistic.

All I know is I need Will Friend and Terry Fair to earn their money and QUICK. Our OL and CBs need improvement yesterday. As far as this game goes? No reason in the world we can't win this game. Gonna be some jitters and some learning curves. But, I think we are gonna take this one.

I just hope at the end of this game there are a bunch of posts on here wanting to crown Coach Pruitt the king of Tennessee.

We have more talent...it will be interesting to see if we can use it. One year doesn’t seem to be enough time to really turn around a team as bad as what we looked last year.

WVU reminds me of the Oregon teams from a few years ago. Tons of hype, high powered offense...barely serviceable defense even in a weak conference, but it didn’t matter because they scored so quickly and often.

With a poor Tennessee team, we didn’t do so well in those games.

I really have a hard time putting a finger in this one. Honestly nothing would surprise me....close game, blowout by either team...my head thinks WVU may have the edge, but my heart screams Vols win!

If WV underestimates UT and they are looking at last year's team, they are in for a big surprise, I can pretty much guess that CJP and company have a wakeup call for the NCAA........UT has talent, on both sides, if Fritz did his job, and I believe we know he did. The rest is execution.

I hope I'm wrong but I think this one will get ugly and not in UT's favor. Totally new staff and schemes against a Heisman finalist type QB. Cant believe this is who UT opens with.

I think you are wrong.......WV has an offense, their defense has questions. Charlotte is basically home field advantage for UT. I am pretty sure Orange and White will dominate the stadium.

Book space on this board. End of game, you’ll get detailed facts about how this wasn’t a big deal of a win because of how much they suck. ;)

This game will come down to whether our OL can move people off the ball and allow us to run the ball and control the clock. We are not going to outscore WVU. We must limit the number of times they get an opportunity to score.

I think we are in for a surprise when we see the trenches OL & DL. This problem started with Dooley and continued under Butch. No coaching no plan just recruit a 3-4 * and let them go. Debord held it together by adjusting but Jones found a way to screw it up.

Things heading the right way. Coaching Recruiting and New offensive/defensive schemes.

W.Va was just as bad defensively last year as we were and are an average rushing team. They have a potent passing game but I can see them being one dimensional against this staff and beating us. We have talent on Defense and Coach's who can coach it. W.Va padded their stats against bad teams last yr. They weren't near as potent vs the faster, more physical Defense's. Not to mention Grier and their offense loves turning the ball over. No reason we shouldn't score at will against their horrid defense. Especially if we run with success and speed up the game. No reason we shouldn't score lots of points on them. Should have a field day rushing the ball and they will be gassed in the 2nd half. Coaching and being on the Field too much because of the offense hurt us more than anything. If you look at the box scores last year, we were in every game besides GA at HT. Lack of halftime coaching adjustments on both sides of the ball and wearing down in the 2nd half killed us last yr. Don't see that happening as much this year. Outside of Ga and Ala we either led at halftime or our biggest deficit was 7 points in the other 10 games. After the Fla game everything went to hell. The last 9 games we were outscored 138-40 in the 2nd half and 7 of those was a defensive TD. So the last 9 games we scored 33 offensive 2nd half points and gave up 140. 5 games we had zero 2nd half offensive points, then had 3, 6,14 and 10 the other 4. 14 were against S.Miss where they set us up in the redzone twice with turnovers. Then got a late TD vs Vandy when we were down 25 pts. I believe that was more the issue than talent. Halftime adjustments were a joke plus the 3 TD's and 4 FG's total offensively the 2nd half the last 9 games. We are gonna beat an overrated 7-6 W.Va team. You gotta look deeper than total stats to see W.Va is majorly over hyped. Just like our defensive issues weren't because of lack of talent. Plus it was obvious the players quit on Butch after the Fla game. No we aren't a championship team but nowhere close to having 4-8 talent. If I'm wrong, I'll gladly admit to it but hopefully I'm not.

I’m still showing 9 1/2, the Washington/Auburn game surprised me. Tigers are favored by 3, am I missing something there? Easy money? Tigers should be getting 3.

I think Aub should be favored. 2 top 10-12 teams and as close to being a home game for AU as you can get. I see Aub doing the same thing to them Ala did a few yrs ago. Think AU wins by 7-10+.

I believe we can outscore them. Hopefully we won't have to,though. They will be one of the worst Defense's we see all year. They were equally mad in pass and rush defense. Our OLine should have no problem being the more physical group. They got gashed regularly in the run game. They will hit some big plays passing on our secondary but also can be generous with turnovers. Hopefully we can get to Grier and put some shots on him. We can't let him have all day to throw the ball. They are a bad Big 12 defensive team and also love giving up huge plays.
