That's why he had us going 4-8 in 2010? I think the guys a good writer, but I have never seen a hint that he 'likes UT'

He writes unbiased IMO. And ivbe visited with him several times. He's a good guy.

nebraska and penn state seem very questionable

4 big 10 teams as kings - hardly any wins versus SEC in big games

2 ACC teams - virtually no wins against anyone of significance in last decade for the whole conference

here would be my kings - Alabama, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas and USC

i would agree. now how about this. between ND, Penn state, nebraska, Tenn and miami who would be the quickest to rejoin the royalty in your eyes?

i would say Tenn and ND

Pstate has obvious problems that could affect how competitive they are - also not in recruit rich area

Nebraska - not a very recruit rich area at all - also its Nebraska

Miami - could well go on serious probation so short term not looking great - but they will come back in style at some point again and are in such a hotbed for recruits that they will be back in time

Tenn - has no big things hanging over program like Miami and Pstate - if we can start winning recruiting could be elite in very short term

ND - always has a cache although in my lifetime it has reduced considerably - they seem to have made the right hire though so if they continue winning they will be right there in short term

Given all their immediate situations: Nebraska probably.

But how are you saying this by "quickest?" first to win a conference or even national championship? First to reach long(er) term success? Ties to the most recruiting rich areas to build on?

His article is a decent starting point but I'd make a few changes:

Arky merits serious consideration as a Baron but my view may change if they fall off after Petrino's exit.

UCLA & Wiscy should be demoted to Knight.

Is Mizzou really a knight or just a decent peasant? Same question for Maryland.

Ole Miss is a peasant

Alabubba fell further than we did and they seemed to recover pretty well. The last five years have sucked ass but its gonna be a HELLUVA lot better this season!!

Yeah, bammer revisited Bear's movie and remembered about the "Wad of cash". Nah, hail, they never forgot, and if Phil didn't stop the Memphis thing, they would have kept rolling along. Tennessee may as well start paying top dollar, as we saw with Auburn, SEC FB is to big and profitable to enforce the rules anymore. Every top 150 player that is not of means is getting paid. Probably top 300. Saban isn't such a great coach, when you recruit 1st and 2nd every year, you better be good. Auburn went in Tuscaloosa and came back from 24-0 . Great coaches don't let that happen.

Sadly many have FSU picked as possible title contenders this year. Think you've heard that before? You have. Every. Single. Year.

Only UGA and Texas have accomplished less with more than FSU.

Actually, it's hard to argue any of these schools have done less with as much as Tennessee has. Chris Low did two pieces last year which indicate this. The first was a piece on the NFL draft and second was a poll conducted by the NFL which listed the top 100 NFL players as voted on by their peers. Tennessee was #1 on that list in terms of colleges represented.

Likewise, SI did a piece last summer which ranked the most overrated programs of the previous decade. Tennessee was #1 because twice we we're preseason top 10 and did not finish ranked at the end of the season.

I think his article is fairly accurate but not perfect. All I care about is TN and I want to see major improvement on the field. Recruiting is showing signs of life. This should be TN's best team by far in the past six years. No excuses. Just win baby! VFL!

We've fallen a long way. From this moment (beating UF to move up to #2 and shot a second BCS title in 4 years):

Agree except Wisconsin's been pretty solid.

Ole Miss definitely not worthy of their spot, sadly.

Arkansas, S. Carolina could easily make a jump up ... except that we will start crushing S. Carolina every single year again very soon (should have started last year).

Every team goes through it I don't caare who you are. Alabama did granted the were on probation. Florida is about to USC has Texas has. Eventually the luster and buzz wears off, and recruits see the depth chart.

The time is here. This season we win some big games and compete to go to Atlanta.

Believe it.
