So, Tennessee lands below a Memphis team who has lost one game to said Tennessee team, and UCLA is ranked above a one loss Memphis team and the Tennessee team that beat them.... but yet has lost as many games as said Tennessee team.... hmm...

Oh well, rankings are meaningless at this point...

Ok, UCLA has lost to #9 Texas, #18 MSU, and UR USC. UT has lost to #9 Texas, UR Kentucky, and #16 Vandy, but also beat #3 Memphis on the road. With their losses being seemingly identical, one would have to believe the W over Memphis would trump any win UCLA has. Also, Memphis has only one loss to #4 TN. By the way, Duke loses to not one, but TWO, UR lower tier ACC teams and an UR Pitt team earlier in the year, but they are #5?
Let's make a new top 10. here's mine:
1)UNC
2)UT
3)Memphis
4)UCLA
5)Kansas
6)Stanford
7)Duke
8)Texas
9)Wisconsin
10)Louisville

As long as we are in the mix near the top of the polls, our exact ranking doesn't really matter to me. We have the RPI and the SOS to get a good seed.

To be honest, I'm surprised we didn't drop to #10 in the freaking coaches poll.

It says a lot for UT to have the same # of losses as Duke and Kansas and still be ranked ahead of them. We'll take it considering we haven't played our best the last couple of games. GO VOLS!!!!!!!

The real question is what AP voter had us at #1? I'd like to shake his hand.

Pitt was actually #9 and 10-0 when they played Duke, but I agree with you that Duke sucks. They don't deserve to be ranked where they are.

Us being ranked behind a Memphis team who we just beat completely discredits the polls.

The selection committee doesn't even look at the polls.
George Washington was in the top 10 one year in the polls and ended up an 8 seed

Louisville was ranked top 5 in 04 and was a 4 or 5 seed.

Where we're ranked in relation to Tiger High doesn't matter now. Unless we lose a couple more games, the selection committee is going to treat us as a higher-rated team because we beat them.

I'd be willing to bet we'll be back to No. 2 in at least one poll next week, assuming we don't lose to UF. UNC is going to lose at Duke, and when the deck gets reshuffled, some of these people are going to remember that we beat Tiger High and vote accordingly.

Anyway, if we win out we're going to be the No. 1 seed in the tournament, because we have a huge RPI lead over everyone else even after losing to Vandy.
