Tennessee #3 in tailgating

If my football program were Ole Miss than I'd do my damnedest to lead the nation in tailgating too.

No doubt that the girls are amazing, but I can never quite manage to shake the certain knowledge that in five years 80 percent of them will be surly, overweight, and letting their fat little kids bake in the SUV outside while they're pumping quarters into slot machines.

LSU has to be #1. Just like anything else, those cajuns live to cook & drink. I know a guy who has gone to every LSU games for the last 10-15 yrs & has never seen the inside of the stadium. They watch the game on a screen on the the side of the Coonie-bago(winnebago) & enjoy 7ft of coonievision. There are small armies of these people that do this every weekend. They come for the tailgating.
I've never been to the Grove, but I can't imagine they can tailgate any better than those Cajuns, & I know the food can't be better

The grove is by far my favorite place to tailgate.

There are tailgating tents EVERYWHERE and they all have insane setups. It seems like every tent has a specialty that differs from the others. Some look like they're going for a HGTV award with chandeliers and immaculate camping/lawn furniture everywhere. Some look like they opened up a small BBQ joint with foods of all kinds prepared, and there's more than enough to go around (as the hosts will show you). Then there's the tents that look like a tiki bar with their overabundance of alcohol and other drinks. It's insane. And if you came unprepared or short on the goods, your neighbor(s) will gladly supply you with whatever you need/want. The people there are all very generous and offer you food, drink, etc.

There's no telling how many people are in there. It seems like there's more than 80,000 there before the game starts. Even after everyone goes to the game there's around 20-40,000 people (depending on the opponent) still in the grove drinking and partying. The women are out-of-this-world gorgeous, the kids have enough other kids to play football with, and the people in general are as hospitable as they come. It's a beautiful atmosphere as well. There's grand trees, the grass is immaculate, and they have designated paths that make maneuvering and moving very easy.

Just picture everyone in Neyland stadium in a 2 square mile area with ~30,000 tents and enough food to feed the armed forces, and enough booze to put everyone in a coma.

Yes yhe atmosphere is very cool in Oxford . I beleive Tennessee and Ole Miss tie for first place . Gainesville is the armpit of the SEC by far

Gainesville is awful, but Starkville is the armpit of the world.

Wrong! Just saw it during the Mizzo/Nevada game. Bama #1, WE were #2. UT was not mentioned nor was the grove. Hard to believe!

You def are wrong. I got CFB live on my DVR and just went and watched it again. We are def #3 with ol miss at #1 I believe. Thanks but FAIL!:bad:

not sure how UT is in the top 10. the ONLY way it's on there is because of the navy. other than that, tailgating spots aren't that great here. Auburn and FL both had nicer and more convenient areas.

This.

We just don't have a lot of rolling, green places to tailgate. We're an urban campus and that's okay most of the time, but, the place where I routinely tailgated was on the side of a hill behind Copper Cellar and one false move and you were at the bottom of the hill...which wasn't always bad because you could normally just pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and hit the john.

Clearly they were ranking school sites. Red River Rivalry? Cocktail Party? Both, I assure you from experience, put any school-site tailgate to shame.

Might be blasphemous to say, but ole miss is easily the best tail-gating atmostphere i've ever been a part of.

Tailgating at Auburn is terrible---you have to get there on Friday to rope off a spot!
