Tennessee 10th in Recruiting

It matters because other recruits are gonna take notice. Will also get media attention when they're talking about recruiting.

Of course they take notice. They're noticing us because of the players committing and not because of what the recruiting service has us at.

Beg to differ with all who say this isn't some insanely good news and doesn't mean anything.

We signed 5 Rivals 4 star players all of last year and
we already have 3 in the fold and it's early in March.

We signed one player who was Rivals rated at 6.0 or better last year and we already have 2 rated that highly this year.

We are currently rated ahead of Southern Cal and some other historically strong recruiting staffs. This staff has demonstrated that they can coach - if they can continue to recruit at this level I am confident that we are seeing the start of a change in attitude and fortune.

I bought my basketball tickets when Bruce Pearl got his first 4 star commitment - and while I would agree that there are no guarantees - this is trending wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
better than Dooley's recruiting.

If you aren't excited - then you don't understand the process. There is a direct correlation between getting good players and playing good football-- Who knew.

I'm not saying we shouldn't be excited. Everything's gonna change so much between now and the end that where we are right now doesn't really matter.

The big difference here is that Hurd is an early qualifier (moves the dial). Don't have numbers, but based on what I've seen in the past, Vols don't lose EE's. Get excited brother!

To some on this board rankings don't count that is unless we start recruiting like this then they are all in. It's the Joe's not the Xo's in college ball. Congrats Butch Jones.

also, it does matter. The perception of being highly ranked can only benefit us down the road. I'm a big believer in this

Yes. Momentum in recruiting matters. Get em early and often. Look at the potential snowball we got going now wih early stud commitments.
