Exactly. Historically our strongest AD's have been former football coaches. They know how to navigate the landscape and they speak the language.

Pruitt is serious about ACTUALLY winning, not just APPEARING to. That means a focus on core fundamentals rather than glitz. Who knows if he can pull off the big one but you dont do what he has done as a DC (at 3 major programs) by just recruiting well. Its the combo of recruiting, coaching up and game day. I am glad to see however, that we have an AD that will back his plays. That sends the right message that UT is not fooling anymore and will spend whatever it takes to bring home REAL trophies.

Pruitt, IMO, seems like a "fit" for UT. I like it that he hates the marketing/TV stuff....just let the man coach football and recruit. I like that Pruitt isn't afraid to shuffle the deck after one season. If it's not working or there's a better way, do it. Keep moving the pieces until you get it right.

Elsa, they still can't hear your message. So I'll try to shuffle the cards a bit just for the heck of it. Lyle Allen, got our players' GPA up so the NCAA eligibility Sword of Damocles penalties no longer loomed over the UT's head. We, for the most part, lost the label of the University of Thugs under his leadership. We went to three straight bowls. Two against opponents supposedly superior to us and beat them. One. against a team bemoaning the lame excuse of having two key injured players while ignoring the numerous injured players on our team. We beat them too. So, Elsa, I think if the Butch bashers are going to bash him, they should also acknowledge the good he did as well.

I personally think that while he'd have never brought us a championship, a real one not some made up cliche turtle doody thingie, he was sort of on the right track. But then he messed it up by getting rid of Jancek and then Lawson. Otherwise, we'd likely be seeing 8-9 and maybe a once in a while 10 win seasons instead of 5 win seasons.

The real point is the man is gone and even VN'ers who liked him (at least for a while) are glad we have someone who looks to be the right man for the job. So despite all this, dear Elsa, hit it again. But this time, sweetie, try it in multiple languages in the hope it finally clicks.

Currie was hired by Haslam so that Fulmer or Blackburn would NOT be hired..

It has nothing to do with Fulmers accomplishments. You can almost bet Fair was a Fulmer recommendation. All I'm saying, is that it's clear that Fulmer is/has given full control to Pruitt

Not necessarily. He more than likely has the final say and/or he may give suggestions. He does not have full control

Had Butch & Co. won 7-8 games on 2017, Butch is still (most likely) the Head Coach at UT and Curry is still the AD.

Fulmer and Pruitt are great team. Some here just don't like coach Fulmer but he is the best VFL of anyone and he is the ONE that is getting the funds to help put the Vols back on top, make no mistake about that. Without the money any coaches hands are tied on getting the staff they really want. With the hires they have made recently, it is clear that the University is ALL IN on getting back on track and they will spend whatever it takes to get the talent here.

The article was right when it says Tennessee has been seen as cheap in their hiring practices and the that was absolutely true. AD Fulmer know what it will take to get this program out of the ditch and he has convinced the University to open the purse and get it done NOW!!

Go Vols!!!

Yeah, and it's time to let the whole Hamilton / Fulmer / Kiffin / Dooley / Currie / Jones thing go. It was what it was, and it is what it is. In the end, Coach Fulmer is now the AD. It hurt my heart to see the way he left, and it felt really good to see the way he came back. I think he will do well there, and there's a building, if not a statue, in his future. He's earned it, and earning it to this day.

Coach Pruitt is a winner. Given his resume, and his Bama lineage, and the state of UT Football when he accepted the job...for that man to willingly step into the mess that existed in 2017 was at the very edge of believeable. Clearly, Coach Fulmer sold him on a vision, and Coach Pruitt bought in. Speaks well for both of them as to their commitment to winning.

I expected more than 5-7 last year, but it was clear that the team was (a) out of gas, or (b) weak, at the end of the year. Coach Pruitt and his staff...which he continues to improve to this day...will recruit, condition, develop, and coach that out of the roster. There will come the day...maybe this year, likely next...when we will watch the UT Football team take the field and play with an intensity that has not been seen here since, well, 1998. That, I believe.

Recruiting has improved. Staff has improved. Conditioning, development, and coaching are improving. The wins will come. I plan to be here to celebrate them when they do.

Go Vols.

Remember folks talking about the Sal Sunseri experiment doing in Dooley, but ultimately, the UT job was too big for Dooley and Butch. The FL job was too big for Muschamp, but SC seems to fit him. With Fulmer offering steadying hand with guidance, Pruitt seems to be one who is up to the task...just need the W’s.

The AD is very important in the success of all athletic programs. Fulmer has been able to provide leaderhip and confidence to the Department. He has set the pace and provided resources, made excellent moves based on sound information, and allowed coaches to do their thing but being there for support and guidance. The leadership from the top down has been been replaced and the attitude of this Administration has greatly improved. When we get stability with a new President, the entire University will be as good as it has ever been in years. The future looks very good and I can hardly wait for the next decade of our new leadership. Happy days are here again.
