Gets us out of their back yard too. If we aren’t going to Atlanta for the SECCG I don’t want to go to Atlanta to face UGA in Round 1 of the Playoffs.Yep. That would be a dream scenario. I don't want UGA in a 1 vs 4 matchup. I'd rather get 'em when it's for the whole ball of wax....assuming we can get by OSU. They've got the talent to do what UGA did so it certainly won't be a walk in the park.
I understand the thought process of putting USC into the playoff, but the PAC-12 is so freaking weak. Have you seen USC’s SOS and SOR compared to ours? I just don’t think the committee would jump us with USC. I get that they would be their conference champs, but is that really that great of an accomplishment?? The loser of the Michigan and Ohio state game should be out. We have our only loss to the #1 team in the country and the reigning national champions, in Athens might I add. ACC has no shot IMO. Barring something really flukey with the committee. They have both UNC and Clemson behind 2 loss Alabama currently. They won’t jump us. Im just sick of the doubt and worry. If this was a 1 loss Alabama would we even be having these conversations? No. They were ahead of TCU when they had 1 loss. So really what gives with us? Beat Alabama, have better SOS, and better SOR. The criteria changes week to week with this stupid committee and Im honestly sick of it. Tennessee wins out they should be in 110%, and if they aren’t it’s highway robbery. The best 2 teams in the country, IMO, are Georgia and then Tennessee.Hypothetical following the model:
1) CFP Semis: UGA, OSU, TCU, USC
2) Cotton Bowl: UCF
3) Rose: Michigan vs. Utah
4) Orange: Clemson vs. Tennessee
5) Sugar: K-State vs. LSU
6) Cotton Bowl: Alabama
Cotton bowl vs UCF is an insult lol. If we don’t make the playoffs, we’re a shoe-in for the sugar. Nothing less.CBS: (CFP)Peach Bowl vs Georgia
SI: Cotton Bowl vs. UCF
247 Sports: (CFP) Fiesta Bowl vs Ohio State
Athlon: (CFP) Peach Bowl vs Georgia
CFN Sports: (CFP) Fiesta vs Ohio State
ESPN: Bonagura- (CFP) Fiesta Bowl vs Michigan Schlabach- Sugar Bowl vs. Kansas State
It’s such a bizarre selection process but from my understanding this is how they will do it.
Pick 1: CFP Committee selects the 4 Semifinalists for the CFP.
Pick 2: CFP selects the highest ranking AA, C-USA, MAC, Mountain West, Sunbelt for 1 spot in the Cotton Bowl. 2nd spot TBD.
Pick 3: Rose Bowl Committee selects the highest ranked non-CFP teams from the PAC and B1G.
Pick 4: Orange Bowl Committee selects the highest ranked non-CFP teams from the ACC and SEC/B1G/Notre Dame.
Pick 5: Sugar Bowl Committee selects the highest ranked non-CFP teams from Big 12 and SEC.
Pick 6: CFP Committee fills the final Cotton Bowl slot with the highest ranked power 5 team not yet selected.
Plus this caveat:
FAQs:
1) Which SEC Team qualifies for the CFP?
The winner of the SEC Championship Game automatically qualifies for a spot in the Sugar Bowl if that team is not selected to participate in the four-team playoff. If the SEC Champion is selected to participate in the four-team playoff it will play in the Peach Bowl or Fiesta Bowl. The next highest-ranked SEC team not in the four-team playoff goes to the Sugar Bowl.

So you’re saying cotton could be a 5 and 6 matchupActually, if Tennessee does not make the CFP; we would be in the Cotton Bowl as the 1st team not taken by the committee. The Cotton Bowl participants are actually selected by the playoff committee.
