Tenn Will Beat Arky

Frosh QB in 1st or 2nd start against a soon to be undefeated team one of those times. The other was in a close SEC Championship game w/ Ric Clausen at QB that would have been closer if there wasn't an 80 yd TD run by Riggs negated by a BS holding call.

Actually the first time (recently) Auburn beat us Casey Clausen was starting. Our coaches thought it would be a brilliant idea to run the ball at them. We finished the night with 4 yards rushing. In the second half, Clausen was allowed to throw and nearly brought the Vols back. Regardless, we couldn't stop Ronnie or Cadillac from doing whatever they wanted.

its scary to think that we might give up another record breaking day to an opposing player.....hall and mckinley are decent, but mcfadden is an absolute beast and might run for more that 321 against this D.

i mean we gave up 250+ against ULL...seriously

I think our only key to this game preventing Arky from doing well is to do the same thing against SC and create turnovers or hope that they make turnovers themselves. Otherwise this could be a long game.

can someone please explain just how the Vols are going to stop Arky from running the ball. The only team the Vols have stopped this year is Georgia!!! Here are some points of interests:

Arkansas: #2 rushing offense in NCAA (315.89 y/g)
#12 total offense in NCAA
#8 scoring offense in NCAA.

Tennessee: #74 rush defense in NCAA
#84 pass defense in NCAA
#80 total defense in NCAA.

The glimmer of hope is that Arkansas is extremely one dimensional (#111 in passing) and they will be playing in Knoxville. The only way we stop them is to get them in a bunch of 3rd down situations and do our best to limit the big plays. They killed SC with 20+ yard runs.

How about those Panthers?? Sorry had to say it, they made the Titans look like a playoff team....What went wrong in Charlotte?

I only watched about half of the game, and while I know that the panthers suck in all forms this year, the Titans most certaintly don't look like a playoff team, they are just an average team. Turnovers and a moderate offense is all the Titans had on Sunday. Great defense though, but then again the panthers suck on offense so it wouldn't matter what kind of defense you have with them.

Delhomme was the starter and he was bad, he's out for the season. Got Carr in the offseason who is used to picking himself up off the ground and losing, he hurt his back (and is now concussed). Had to pick up Vinny Testaverde from the nursing home midseason.

I could keep going but I don't think I need to. :)

:lolabove: That too. Moore is just there to sit on the bench.

But the panthers just need to clean house with every qb.

It's been ugly, that's for sure. I for one would like to see more of that Basanez (sp?) guy....but I know nothing about him except he's been on and off the practice squad and looked mildly decent in preseason... oh well, we can save the rest for the NFL board before the mods move this there anyways. We'll see if they can turn their season around...:crossfingers:

is that what Auburn did?

Not exactly. DMAC ran at 100% for the first time since getting bruised ribs and a mild concussion at the Kentucky game. He's able to hit that extra gear that he hasn't had in weeks.

The major determining factor is line play, though. If our O-line misses assignments ala Auburn, he won't get anywhere, no matter how healthy he is. Hopefully, those problems have been resolved.

Also expect some more creativity on offense than against Auburn. They mixed it up just well enough against USC-E, that lanes were opening for DMAC and Felix.

I missed the part where you gave the excuse for Felix not burning up Auburn. Where was that?

I wasn't clear on that point, but that was attributed to poor O-line play and total lack of creativity in play calling. With those two negatives, even DMAC would have had a subpar game.

Any regression and it will be a long day for Arkansas in Knoxville.

As for our D? Let's not even go there. I've seen swiss cheese with fewer holes...

I would like to see him too, he was alright in preseason but that was against last string defenses so I'd like to see him play more.

And since when do you come to that thread? :p

I really don't have a favorite in this game.

My son attends UT working on his PHD.

My daughter in law teaches third grade in the Knox County school system, Her school is located north of Knoxville.
