Tenn vs VA Tech in the Chick-fil-a Bowl (merged)

We do run some Wild Turkey but it's pretty ineffective. The basic skinny on us is we are having a down defensive year. I am worried about your big RB as our DLINE and LB's are smaller than usual for us.

Of course, like most teams have against you all, we will probably load up on the run and make Crompton beat us. Our CB's are lockdown as usual, but against SEC teams you never know how it will go.

We definitely use your conference as a measuring stick, so we are excited about this even though we would rather be in the BCS (no surprise).

Our offense is better than usual this year. I saw someone say that Tyrod can't pass but he is top 15 in pass efficiency and Ryan Williams (RB) is maybe the best to ever play at VT. Our receivers are solid but struggled to get open against Bama. Our O-Line is great one game, and not so great the next.

Should be a great game. I enjoy Kiffin's brashness.

eh...I'm disappointed it's not Tampa but it beats the MC bowl. Ga dome sucks.

Go Vols.

Interesting match up.

I think it is a better game, than who we would have faced in Tampa.

I see it, as we have more to gain by beating a good Va Tech team. Tough test for us, but could be a good spring board into the off season.

I like the game time better as well.

Days Inn downtown Atlanta. Just booked it. I've been dying for this matchup since 1998. I don't believe we match up well with them this year, but thats not going to stop me. See everyone there.

I'd take that bet. Ask Lane Kiffin if he's happier to be going to the Chikin Bowl. Perception is everything, and recruits are impressionable. Chikin's better than Music City, but it's definitely a step down.

Please, that is the most misguided statement I've seen in a long time. Once again, recruits aren't going to give a **** if we go to the Chik-fil-a instead of the Outback. Those two are so similar, you'd be hard pressed to find 50% of people who knew which was the better bowl.

I have mixed feelings about this, I think we would have matched up better against the Big Ten and had a better shot at winning. But at the same time VT is probably a better team and should help us more as far as recruiting goes. All in all I'd say I'm a lot happier I won't have to make the longer drive or pay the steeper bills to drive to Tampa.

I would be PUMPED to play VT. They are a highly ranked, VERY well coached team. Should be an excellent, knock down drag out fight of a game.

And if anyone thinks a recruit would decide to NOT attend any school based on if the team got an Outback invite, or a Cotton bowl invite, or a Chikfila bid....I dunno man, you are entitled to your opinion, but I dont buy it for a second. I believe the recruit and his family and coaches would care a heck of a lot more about the SEASON the team just had, the coaching staff and the direction of the program as opposed to where and what day a basically meaningless (in the grand scheme) post season game is on. Just my opinion though.

The only thing about VA Tech is they are very good on special teams and we are.......well.......

Good info

I have been everywhere I can think of with what limited computer skills I have. GVX is the only place saying Chik-Filet. Foxsports or CFN says non BCS bowls will be announced later this evening. I think I'll wait 'til morning to see how excited I am. I believe GA-Clemson got the Outback.

LOL Great place if you want a discount on the crack rock.

People who follow college football know the pecking order. The Outback and Cotton are a tier above the Chikin and Music City. The Outback hasn't picked a West team since 1997. It sends a message, and many-- not all-- are astute enough to pick up on it.

If a bowl selection committee picks UGA over UT in ANY bowl they are, in a word, IDIOTS. UGA's season was a disappointment from the beginning, with their only bright spot being thumping GT. Our season, by most accounts, was a great success for a staff's first year and our fan base is excited. We would travel MUCH better, as a fan base, than UGA. I dont think it would be close. I just cant see picking a team we absolutely dominated over us.....but I am a little biased. :)
