This is a huge blow for the Tigers' defensive unit, as Ellis had an amazing 2024 season, racking up 86 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, two pass deflections and three forced fumbles.

Those impressive numbers led to his being named to the FCS Freshman All-American team and to becoming a finalist for the Jerry Rice Award, which is given to the national freshman player of the year in Division I FCS football.

We probably wanted him as a depth piece while offering an opportunity to earn meaningful snaps while Purdue could pretty much ensure Day 1 snaps. It was worth kicking the tires on, good luck to him and congrats on going from TSU to the Big10
