Not in that cookie-cutter league that you all play in...once again Cal is the only major threat they face. USC going undefeated is not a stretch at all

they still have to win the NC title game. beat nebraska, ND, Cal, ASU, and Oregon all on the road. They could go undefeated, but I wouldn't bet on it.

You wouldn't take the under would you?

How can Cal be favored?
1. We handed them their a#$
2. We both lost key players last year/no advantage
3. Home field is not worth much againts us.

Don't worry about it. We play better as the underdog anyways.

The reason Cal is favored is because the general betting public will think Cal is better. Vegas isn't trying to predict the outcome, they're trying to predict the betting public's mindset.

I just wouldn't bet on USC's O/U. It's easy to say UNDER when you don't actually have to put money on it.

The 11 for USC is a number that no smart person would ever bet, IMO.

@ Oregon will be a tough test, too

Agreed....they definitely have the ability to pull an upset. But what I meant by major threat is a team that cannot possibly be overlooked by USC. Oregon is a good team...so is Nebraska and possibly Notre Dame...although I doubt it. But if USC goes into those games with their heads on straight they should roll. If they go into any of those games like they did at UCLA last year then they definitely could lose.

But...IMO...Cal is the only team on their schedule that even remotely matches their talent level and therefore are the only legit threat for USC this year

They are trying to get 50% of the public betting on each team.

I think the vols will have 2 losses this year....so over.
The question is do we win or bowl game, or instead give Fulmer a raise before the game so no incentive is present??

neither oregon state or ucla has anywhere near their talent level either. Going undefeated in the pac-10 isn't that easy. The pac-10 8 starting qbs returning, all you need is one to get hot for one game, and SC not to be up for the game, and knock SC off to get at least a push. Keller for nebraska is (or was) very good too. And I also think the offense for SC is a questionmark.

And I also think the offense for SC is a questionmark.
Why?

Booty is back, they won't be hurting for talented WRs, their young RBs could only get better one would assume, and I don't know the specifics on their offensive line...

smith and jarrett were that whole offense last year. Both are gone. Turner has had one 100 yard receiving game in 2 years and IMO has never shown he will be an elite receiver. They don't return a single running back that has shown any consistancy and they lose a 3 year all american starter at center. Relying on true freshman for RB and WR production is a questionmark even for a team as talented as SC. Booty isn't good enough to carry that team himself.

There offensive line is tremendous. All-American Sam Baker. Chilo Rachal will be a very good guard and Jeff Byers and Thomas Herring were 5 stars. There WR's are talented with Turner, Hazelton, Ausberry, inc. They have about 10 former HS All-Americans at RB and if JDB gets hurt, insert former 5 star Mark Sanchez. They also have a former 5 star LB that has moved to FB in Allen Bradford. They will have no problem scoring and there defense looks like an NFL d.

Those HS all americans at rb haven't produced, nor has turner. It's a nice stat I suppose. I agree sanchez is good. And Kahlil was the heart of that offensive line and that is not an insignificant loss.
