Tenn-Ohio State

I remember that but I think it was Crews not Chism.

I thought it was Crews too but Chism's bio says this.

Part of the Memphis Pump-n-Run AAU team that won the Real Deal on the Hill tournament in 2005 ... Named the top surprise at the Reebok ABCD Camp in New Jersey by basketball analyst Bob Gibbons ... Guarded Greg Oden in the championship game of the Real Deal on the Hill tournament
Player Bio: Wayne Chism :: Men's Basketball

Now I'm confused too.

I take it you didn't see the first UT-OSU game earlier in the season? You should watch it.

I watched every single last second of it. Take your attitude and shove where the sun doesn't shine.

Ohio State is a lot better now than when we faced them. I also don't think we've improved as fast as they have.

Thats what I like to hear :good!:

well in the game in columbus chism played oden well.

and i don't buy into ohio st. in the least. they beat up on bad big 10 teams (and yes that includes wisconsin, who showed their true colors in the tourney.) seriously, we were their best win all year, and that was by one point in columbus.

Calm down buddy. I'm just suggesting that you didn't see the game. I came away very impressed and I've been glued to every UT game since. I think we're a better NCAA tournament team than we are in the SEC. That's where CBP shines.

1460 The Fan's noon show, Speilman on Sports, were complaining about how the Basketball Bucks fans do not travel with their team.

I guess they had a lot of tickets that went unsold for the trip to San Antonio.

Surprisingly they were praising Tennessee selling all of their tickets because they are a traditional football power.

Crazy Buckeye fans!

By the way, the consensus up here in C-bus is a 10-15 point Buck win.

I respect the Vols greatly. Can I offer a Buckeye perspective on the game?

1. You will likely get killed on the boards. Your front line is just too small to rebound effectively against Oden and Hunter, along with Lewis and Cook who are great rebounders as guards.

2. Very possible to diminish the effect Oden can have defensively by playing your big out front. Can Chism or Crews hit the 3? If so, that will help immensely. Oden is not good at the hedge yet.

3. Lofton is the best player I have seen this year at hitting the contested shot. Buckeye D is stout, so Lofton being "on" is key to your chances IMO.

4. Whatever you think of Greg Oden, Mike Conley Jr. is our best player. Seriously. The reason Xavier came so close to the upset is that Conley had an uncharacteristic bad game (till overtime) -- probably due largely to the excellent D played on him by the superquick Drew Lavender. If you have no "shutdown" defensive guard who can harass Conley, you could be in for a long night.

Just my opinions. Good luck, and GO BUCKS!

This is just silly. Oden is the reason OSU has any semblance of a defensive game. Conley's a drive first guard with limited shooting ability. I think teams, some even unconciously, spend too much time thinking about Oden and leave room for Conley to get to the rack. He's a good ball player, but the only reason he's not zoned into oblivion is because a couple of other guys can flat knock it down.

Are they as stout as your football team's D?

1. Getting killed on the boards hasn't stopped UT from winning games so far this season

2. Chism can and will hit 3's

3. Lofton's always on

4. Jujuan Smith

I also wouldn't call a 6'91/2 Chism small.. When he guarded Oden in the second half he only allowed him to have 6 points from that point on. Also had some rebounds over him and beat him several times in transition.. I guees you havn't seen Wayne lately. Putting up 19 against Horford and Noah in Gainesville is not too shabby for a freshmen. He's gone against Oden since AAU and always had the most success defending him.. That's why Chism was rated the #2 center by the ABCD Camp two summers ago. If we get out in transition enough in the second half, Oden will be gassed down the stretch. The best way to to attack him is in transition or getting Ramar to penetrate causing him to get in early foul trouble. He's shown that he doesn't play as well when he gets frustrated.

conley and butler must do a much better job handling the ball. it was by far their worst game in this regard. they had a combined 9 turnovers to their 4 assists. also, the team cannot count on tennessee having another terrible game from behind the arc. lofton, smith, and chism were 5-of-24 (lofton: 3-of-11) from the three.

as i see tennessee shooting better from the arc and ohio state faring better against the press, i think this game is a toss-up. also, this game is, of course, not at home. there will be no crowd advantage this time.
The above is a quote from the Ohio St. board. To me, it sounds like they are worried about the VOLS! GO UT!!

Remember that Conley came alive against X only after Oden fouled out; his success is in no way dependent upon the big guy being in the game. I hope your coaching staff shares your views on MCJr. His game can really only be appreciated close up. He is much better than you all seem to think. He has no problem breaking down zone off the bounce.

I would say Buckeye Nation is definitely concerned about Tennessee. I know I am; you have a very good team. Afraid is too strong an adjective, but seriously concerned.

Nearly everyone on here has said that the guard play will be what beats UT not Mr. Oden

1. You are absolutely right; Vols have been very impressive in winning despite a serious rebounding deficit.

2. Uh-oh. :p

3. Lofton certainly has had his off games; not many, though, I'll agree.

4. It will be fun to see J Smith trying to guard MCJr. Good matchup to watch.
