Ten Thoughts (It's almost football time!!!!)

I don't have a lot of confidence in Oku has a backup. He just seems really, really raw. He'll get carries because of his big-play abilities, but he HAS to learn to use his blockers better.

I'd say the over/under for Poole carries: 240, 20 carries/pg, sounds about right.

zjc: good post.

I think the QB question is actually the most important. The lessons of 2005 / 08 are too fresh in the mind. We need either (both!) QBs to deliver competent game management. We don't have to have Peyton II; we need QBs who can get it to our receivers consistently. They will get YAC.

I think the D-Line is the most important part of a defense. If you can blow up the line of scrimmage, everyone else's job on D becomes that much easier. If there is a ? on defense, it's here. The other units are solid.

It's good to hear Meline is willing to switch sides for the team. Like that attitude.

I see no reason to take Oku off of kick returns he is going to be great there, the only question is who will be back there with him?

I think Meline could fit the bill.

Don't forget about Rajion Neal at RB....I know he's a true freshman but I think it will be possible for him to see the field.

At absolute best mediocre. I saw him get beat an awful lot for him to be considered our #1 corner... which just scares me.

how do you explain him shutting down jones and green back to back? then shut down jeffery at scar. evans is legit. not the best against the run but gets it done

IMO dooley is crazy if he doesn't find some was to get the ball in oku's hands. The guy can fly and is flat out dangerous with the ball in his hands

Certainly needs to be ready. Poole and Oku will be used a lot, step in and get the job done when you have the chance.

The only good thing I've seen about Oku is kick returns. Every time they hand the ball off to him, he REFUSES to use his blockers.

Honestly I'd like to know who is going to be snapping the ball to our QB's. Our Center situation was looking pretty grim...

I honestly havent been too impressed, the guy puts it on the ground too much and i didnt really see him make anyone flat out miss last year. This may no longer be true after off season work but either way i wouldnt call him 'dangerous'

I like this talk. Instead of just empty homerism or negativism, it is good to actually hear and talk about the team. I am excited about Justin Wilcox's potential with a patchwork defense. If anyone can get it done with less, it is him. I am also excited to see what Chaney's egghead can do with some young QB talent and an offense.

It is about winning games but at this Point in TN football, I want to see improvement and something to build on. We have an incredibly young team that seems to have real potential in a couple of years as long as there is stability at the TOP. Go Dooley and GBO.
