1. The thing I noticed the most about this first year is the overall improvement of players. Look at Hardesty, Stocker, Jones, Moore, Scott, etc. The list goes on and on. These guys can coach them up.
2. The second thing I noticed was the overall improvement of the team. We (for once) got better as the year went along, not worst. Look at the UCLA game to the Kentucky game, and we are a much, much improved team.
3. James Cregg did a phenomenal job this year. The O-Line looked terrible at the beginning of the year in terms of what we had, but this O-Line was great, in both department.
4. Gerald Jones/Denarius Moore really looked good when they were healthy. Really helped Crompton throughout the year. G-Jones could become a big time playmaker if he can stay healthy.
5. Freshman of the Year Awards: Aaron Douglas. He looks to be a future first-round pick if he can keep up the weight. He has all the makings of a great one. Janzen Jackson. JJ can lay some wood. Yeah, he had some problems off the field, but we saw how much he means when he is on the field. He also seems to have solid coverage skills.
6. Montario Hardesty. I mean, what heart. Injuries throughout the year yet had near 70 carries the last two games. He is a true Volunteer. He was absolutely a stud this year. I love Eric Berry, but Montario Hardesty is the MVP.
7. Speaking of EB, I thought he was really solid this year. Only two picks, but if you know Monte's D, he plays near the box. Had 100 tackles, more TFL's. He looked really good and will be a top-5 pick next year. Defensive MVP of the team.
8. Our Special Teams have got to improve in every aspect. It was terrible this year. I know we don't have the proper personnel, but still, we really need to get better next year.
9. Jon Crompton went from being one of the most hated Vols ever, to becoming a respectful QB. He handled the pressure, and become a good QB. Kudos to Kiffin for coaching him up, but a lot of praise to Jon and the mental fortitude he showed this year.
10. I love what the staff has done this year. The only game where I think you can blame the staff is UCLA, but that team was not near the team it is today. It was a good year overall. I was really impressed. If we win the bowl game, against a top-15 team, I got to give the staff an A.
Go Vols!!!! :hi:
