1. The defensive INTENSITY was there. They were trying to play defense and they looked better. It's a start.

2. Chism/Prince have a basketball IQ combined of 20. They make the dumbest plays at the worst times.

3. Scotty's shot looks so much better. It has more spin, and the arch is perfect. I still want to see him attack the basket more.

4. The press looks better, but still needs work. I'm not sure it's gonna be where Pearl wants it.

5. Cam Tatum looks much better as a player overall. He looks more confident.

6. Kenny Hall should get more minutes. He was in foul trouble today, but he's our best bench post player.

7. I still can't believe Brian Williams has a scholly. What a waste of a scholarship.

8. PG situation is still up in the air. Goins looks good defensively, yet he's very challenged on the offensive side of the ball. Maze played okay, and I'm still waiting to hold judgment defensively.

9. We cannot be careless with the ball like we were tonite. I think it's because of the first game, playing down to the opponent, but you can't make 60 ft. passes down the court with a guy on on a player you are throwing it to during SEC play. That needs improvement.

10. Very sloppy first half, good second half. It's the first game, they are gonna look sloppy. The main thing to take away from the game is this. They were playing hard/aggressive on defense. I would like to see a little more rebounding, but a 30 point win against a AA' Tourney team last year is a good start to a season.

Go Vols!!! :hi:

I can't stand Prince. He has a ton of talent, but absolutely no work ethic.

I don't think that's the problem. I think it's A) He's dumb on the basketball court. B) He tries to showboat every play. Not a good recipe for good basketball.

i have few Thoughts form exhibitions and tonights game. I feel we are severely overrated and the conference will not get the 6 teams in the tourney that everyone is predicting. I think maybe 4. But Prince is ridiculous. He is the 1st player i have ever seen who has a coach as a father who cannot shoot a lick. I mean his shot technique is awful.

I agree that we should not have been ranked #10, we are more #15-20 range, but I do not think you can say UT is "severely overrated" from two exhibitions and one regular season game. The first game is always sloppy.

6 and 7 are wrong. Not based on my opinion.

I want Kenny Hall to get more minutes than Brian Williams. Williams blew four lay-ups easily against Austin Peay. He's not a basketball player. Kenny Hall looks to be a stud. He's very athletic, long, good size, and has amazing upside. He's active, Williams isn't.

I was heartened by the effort on defense. Not so much by the offense. Oh, to have a consistent outside shooter.

i dont mind JP unlike many of you. I dont see the reason why you would say Williams is worse than Hall... right now. Hall has more upside, that i'll agree on. How can you say Williams is a waste of a scholly.

Only if everyone except Auburn and Georgia drop basketball.

I don't know if they can beat Auburn. They have the talent to win more, but the inmates are clearly running the asylum and Washington hasn't progressed at all. It's like watching a skinny Chism.

How is Brian Williams a waste of a scholarship? It's not a waste if he was the best player Tennessee could get with it. People need to remember that this is the first game of the season. Brian Williams hasn't been anything special since he has been here but I've seen him make tons of layups. So he had an off not. Countless times he has gotten an offensive rebound and put it back for easy points(in key situations) when nobody else on the team even knew what a rebound was.

He is a waste because he's freaking 6'10'' and 270 lbs and plays like he's 6'4'' 175. Has no touch around the basket and gets pushed around by smaller players. He belongs at Roane State.

that's the type of player you get when you miss on your top post prospects. It'll happen again if we miss on Pinkston and Harris.

This.

At some point you'd think he'd learn to stop taking the ball back down low on a put back, but since that has still yet to happen, I'm going to assume he's never going to figure it out.

Williams is so inconsistant. Last year, you'd see spurts where he'd be a bit physical and would go up to get boards and put backs. But mostly, he does get pushed around by smaller players. I disagree with Chism being on an IQ level with Prince. No way lol.

Brian just doesn't have the stamina to be physical on the majority of his plays. That's what happens when you recruit someone that has to lose 150lbs to be effective.
