After watching the great Monte work his so called defense last year for Ten.,which IMO sucked, and then to see what SC did against Hawaii last nite,i will say that CJW,s defense will be ranked higher at the end of the year then Monte's.What do you say?????:birgits_giggle:

Wilcox's D at Boise State was ranked higher than Monte's at UT last year.....

pretty good, because it was that Orangutan's defense on display. Daddy is just a consultant this year.

I doubt USC will give up 588 yards again. But I would say the beginning of the year like, after tomorrow, we will already have a higher ranked D than that!

Not to defend Monte, though I still like him despite his retarded offspring, but I think injuries really hurt us last season more than the defensive scheme and play calling. Our linebackers blew so many assignments at the end of last year, which can be expected when your on your 3rd and 4th string players.

I can't tell you how happy I am going to be when the day comes that people around here will stop talking about Kiffin. Here we are, on the cusp of hearing It's Football Time In Tenneessee and yet we still keep talking about him like he is part of our program. Let it go and move on. GBO!

I agree with this, but there was a noticeable drop off when we played a team that ran a variation of the spread.

If you're going up against a Pro-style offense, Monte is one of the best D coordinators you can have. If you're playing against the variety of offenses that a college schedule brings, Monte will always have a few bad performances mixed in with the good.

I think the PAC 10 will run up tons of points on USC this year. The real question is: Can any of those teams stop the USC offense long enough to capitalize. Their playmakers are still incredibly talented...

Why? He's news. He's all over the place. Why does everybody get so worked up about Kiffin. "Don't say his name!" "He don't coach he no more, so no threads allowed on thay guy". Give me a break. Alot people are waiting and watching to see this guy fail. As Skip said on first and ten, "the guy is a jerk". Personally it's entertainment. Nothing more. And It's Football Time in Tennessee will be loud enough to drown out kiffin's buzz.

What leads you to believe it won't happen again? Hawaii is far from the best team they will play... I agree about Monte. He sticks with his son, but their are plenty of people who have children that grow up to be a-holes when the parents are just fine.

In USC's defense, we did have a legit secondary though...theirs is nothing to write home about....nonetheless, there were holes everywhere in that D! Hawaii tore up the middle!

Hawaii has always had a potent passing game, that, coupled with the fact USC hadn't been hitting in practice makes me think it won't keep happening as the season progresses. Do I want it to? Yes. Do I think it will? No.

Sounds like you thought you clicked on the "Countdown to Football Time" thread. Did you not see "USC" in the thread title? No?, oh, well then that explains it. =)

The Tennessee D had something last year that USC and Kiffin doesn't have this year ... Eric Berry ... a great leader ... along with that ... SEC teams last year has poked holes in Monte's defense. I see more troubles when they face teams like Oregon that has exceptional running backs. Last night was just another game that showed the flaws in his secondary.

USC Secondary Starters:

CB - Nickell Robey - Fr. - ****
CB - Shareece Wright - Sr. - ****
SS - Jawanza Starling - So. - ****
FS - TJ Mcdonald - So. - *****

They may be young overall, but they have all kinds of talent there...

True. Talented, but young. Wright is a 5th year senior who had to sit out last year, and has only started 3 games. Talented, but inexperienced!

its awesome that we got Wilcox. its awesome that Monte got bent over the gatorade table, las night, but there are too many factors to even bother comparing ranks. if we rank anywhere near USC, then we would have a much better d than them, due to the conference we play in.
